Western Bulldogs Have More Height Available
The Bulldogs once had a very competitive team that relied on players like Kretiuk, Southern, Croft and Dent in the back line. They gave up a lot of height to the big forwards of the AFL. Now the Bulldogs are a bigger team at the back, with Harris and Wight, but they could use a bit more. Luckily for them there are a few options for them to choose from now, and later in the season they will also have Chris Grant available.
Andrejs Everitt: The idea with several players in the recent draft was that they had the skills but needed to add the bulk to survive at AFL level. The Power are playing Nathan Krakouer so that theory didn't work. Everitt should be given a game soon, he could give the Bulldogs a lot of help in the back line.
Tom Williams: He is healthy, seriously, and is playing for Werribee. Williams joined the team through the same draft that brought Ryan Griffen to the Bulldogs, Williams has certainly been around the club long enough even if injuries have halted his progress on the field.
Wayde Skipper: More of a small ruckman type of player, but he can be played as a defender on the slower big forwards. The Bulldogs will be playing a few teams in the next month who can play a ruckman in the forward line, like Melbourne with Jamar and Richmond with Pattison, so the Bulldogs might find a place for Skipper.
Andrew McDougall: The Bulldogs were getting ready to play the Saints, Coach Eade even mentioned that McDougall was able to play as a tall defender, McDougall was dropped and Reiwoldt and his tall friends had a field day under the dome at night. McDougall's best spot is as a forward, he is also an underrated mobile ruckman, but he could be an option at centre half back with Grant injured. They could use him back in the team.
It should be an interesting week at the Bulldogs as they look to get taller, probably one player from the above list will be playing for them in round 4. There is even the chance of a contest between Reiwoldt and Everitt, but Jack versus Andrejs.
