Victoria Versus The Rest Of The World

It’s not State Of Origin, it’s not an All-Star game, it is some sort of one-off contest for the sesquicentennial of football.

From The AFL site: Vics versus the 'Dream Team' at the MCG

Maybe the teams will look a bit like the ones below. Although how the players are allocated to the teams, and who is picking them could bring about some interesting teams. It looks like Victoria will struggle to contain the combined might of everyone else.

HF A Embley, N Riewoldt, L Franklin

Foll D Cox, C Cornes, B Kirk

bench B Lade, M Johnson, S Burgoyne,
J Carr, D Kerr, B Ottens, S Goodwin

A good suggestion, and he is now sitting on the bench next to Josh Carr.

Joel Smith has retired hasn't he?

That's Jesse Smith, of the Kangaroos, in the team. He would be one of the players who is deserving of a spot in the team next year, but unless his father is a selector his name probably won't be brought up at the selection table.

Surely Dal Santo should get a spot...

...and he now has his spot.

It is a format that is controversial, with one state playing all the others, and it certainly looks like the selecting of the teams will generate a bit of noise too. Hopefully they just let the fans vote for the players, instead of the usual people they have for selecting everything.
