Unlucky Round 13 For Judd, Whitnall, Koschitzke, Walker, Rocca and others.
AFL coaches have to make plenty of adjustments this week as a lot of players won't be available for round 13. Some fantasy coaches will have a number of players unable to play, and with only two trades per round it might take some planning to fix a fantasy team that has Judd, Koschitzke, Rocca and Tarrant. There was talk that Hall might miss this round too, at the moment the Swans say he will play, although fantasy teams might want to replace him anyway.
From the West Coast site: Judd ruled out
From the St Kilda site: Koschitzke's hamstring setback
From the Carlton site: Walker set to miss Fremantle game
From the Collingwood site: Rocca out for two matches
AFL Fantasy Impact:
The Judd situation is tricky for fantasy coaches, the Eagles have already given him three weeks of rest so that isn't a minor problem that he has. If you think that Judd will miss round 14 as well, it might be time to look at another option for the fantasy midfield. The Eagles and fantasy coaches might have Embley to consider for this round.
Whitnall did have a few games when it looked like he would get back to last year's form. He has a knee problem that will keep him out for the Fremantle game, and possibly more. Better trade him as it seems that his knee problems are expected to hamper him when he returns. Carlton do a few weird things but they might make the right choices when they select their team for this round, so on Thursday when the teams are named there could be a fantasy prospect who gets a game, someone like Grigg or Young. Carlton have forgotten about Mr Kennedy, so he is an option for them. If S O'hAilpin goes to the back line once again, then a spot could open up for his brother or Jacobs in the ruck, Hampson is another option.
Koschitzke was one of the most popular players to have this season in fantasy teams, and he produced with fantasy points and a good price rise, and now a lot of people will be trading him in. Gehrig will replace him in the forward line for the Saints, and he may help fantasy teams too.
Walker won't play this round and there is a possibility that he will miss more time after that. Anderson is an option for them and Benjamin or Grigg could also be considered. It is a dilemma for fantasy coaches, Walker has been playing well so if he only misses one game then it might be best to keep him on the fantasy rosters but if news comes out that his injury is worse than first thought he might have to be traded.
Rocca will be out for a couple of games. The Magpies have plenty of options, they could play Fraser in his spot and use Richards in the ruck, Collingwood could recall Bryan to play as a big forward, Reid could get his first AFL game or maybe they keep what they have and hope Cloke, Didak, Thomas and Davis can kick enough goals.
Eagleton's suspension was finally made official, he is out two games. Higgins is ready to play a bigger role, Lynch might keep his spot in the team too.
Brett Peake has not had the best season and he is back on the injured list with another bad break. Farmer and Schammer should not be far away from playing for the Dockers, and they also have young players like Collard and Ibbotson to try again.
Yze is another player out, in some ways that helps Melbourne as they don't have to make the decision to send him to Sandringham so they can play a younger player in the AFL.
Tarrant will miss one week with a club-imposed suspension. If a fantasy team has Alwyn Davey, Westhoff, Gray or another useful forward on the bench then maybe Tarrant just gets benched for this round in fantasy AFL games.
There are a few thousand people out there with Michael Gardiner on their fantasy team. It seems that he could be out for the year. While the Saints didn't really risk a lot by adding Gardiner for this season, in fantasy games Gardiner wasn't cheap so it was a bad gamble by fantasy coaches to sign him.
