The Bryce Gibbs Versus Joel Selwood Watch: Round 22
Round 21 goes to Bryce Gibbs.
B Gibbs
Kicks: 4
Handballs: 7
Marks: 2
Tackles: 6
Goals: 1
J Selwood (Nathan Ablett's stats)
Kicks: 5
Handballs: 5
Marks: 5
Tackles: 1
Goals: 3
General soreness was the reason why Joel Selwood didn't play. At least it wasn't due to major catastrophe or corporal punishment.
Gibbs started in the middle and also went forward during the match against the Kangaroos. He was hustling for his team, which included a good smother in the second quarter. While he did do a lot of impressive things, watching a replay of falling over on the goal line instead of kicking the simple goal is something he won't want to see, although Carlton did get a goal from that play as a Carlton teammate booted the ball through.
With Selwood being rested this round, Nathan Ablett's performance was watched instead. He certainly made the most of his opportunities as he kicked 3 goals. The Cats did miss Selwood, as they also had Bartel and Ling out of the side their midfield was not effective.
Selwood should be back and could be involved in another battle of the brothers, as the Cats visit Brisbane. Gibbs and Carlton take to the MCG in the "M1 Abrams Match". The "M" stands for Matthew Kreuzer and the "1" is the draft pick needed to select him. In a couple of years, people could be talking about the Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy and Cotchin midfield at Carlton.
B Gibbs 8 - J Selwood 13
The previous Gibbs/Selwood watch.
