The Bryce Gibbs Versus Joel Selwood Watch: Round 2

Round 1 goes to Bryce Gibbs.

Gibbs
Kicks: 7
Handballs: 4
Marks: 4
Tackles: 5
Goals: 1

Selwood
Kicks: 5
Handballs: 3
Marks: 1
Tackles: 1
Goals: 0

Gibbs had it a bit easier as his team dominated for parts of his game, Geelong didn't get going until the very end and then it was too late.

Gibbs' highlight was his goal, a great start for his career, while Selwood found Mooney with a long pass which resulted in a Cats' goal.

The lowlight for Gibbs was the unfortunate incident when a teammate de-shorted him in the rooms as the team gathered to sing the club song. Like everyone else playing for Geelong, Selwood didn't have anything to celebrate after the game but it must be taken into account that they were playing the highly-rated Bulldogs.

Next week, assuming they both play their second game, there could be times when Gibbs and Selwood are directly opposed to each other. Carlton enter the game with a win streak, if you add in the NAB Cup, and Geelong could be strengthened by the inclusion of big King. Geelong's height in the ruck could provide more of the football to the Cats' smalls like Selwood.
