Lions Fear The Return of Akermanis

This message probably won’t be heeded by the fans of the Lions who will fill their stadium on Saturday night, but the Brisbane Lions’ chief executive officer is worried that Akermanis will unleash his best performance if he is fuelled by boos and abuse from the crowd.

From The Courier-Mail: Bowers wants respect for Aker

He said any attempt to incite Akermanis was likely to prompt the ex-Lion to produce a five-star performance.

“You've got to be respectful of that. We wouldn't be asking people to come out and boo him."

Coach Matthews isn’t getting involved in the pre-match build-up.

From The Courier-Mail: Ignore Aker hype

AFL Fantasy Impact:

Not that he doesn’t always try, but there should be something extra from Akermanis when he goes to Brisbane. Fantasy coaches might want to consider him, for this game and also for the rest of the season as he has been a solid player over the past month. His price might still be just a bit high but he has been getting into position to kick goals and if he did get a couple more last game he would have been worth his price. 20 possessions and 2 goals against the Lions would mean that fantasy coaches got a good return for signing Akermanis, those numbers are not beyond his capabilities.

Aker may get 20 touches, or he may equally get laid out by a J Brown special and taken off on a stretcher. I would say it was fifty fifty as to which one happens... hopefully not the second, my DT can't afford to have Brownie suspended!

Akermanis mentioned that Channel 10 will have a camera on him at all times, so he was thinking about that too.

Brown should have a good game for fantasy points too, it will probably be played at a high speed so there will be plenty of goals, and the Bulldogs are not very big at the back too.
