It's Your ABC, But Where Is The Football?
Football was finally back on TV, at least the Northern Territory variety of the game was scheduled for the ABC digital channel, but football fans were in for a shock.
They didn't see Jethro Calma-Holt or someone called Rioli or even Lance Whitnall. ABC2 showed a rugby match from 1972, it might have been Australia versus New Zealand, but it was difficult to tell who was who on the black and white broadcast.
Now, the ABC should have a huge warehouse full of tapes of the VFL/VFA, SANFL, WAFL and NTAFL, and for some unknown reason they throw a rugby show on when there was a problem with the round 15 NT AFL show. At least find a tape with Danny Del Re or Jack Aziz dominating the VFL, or even a DeGrassi Junior High episode, instead of the poor-quality pictures of the rugby rerun.
The NAB Cup starts in a week, but before Collingwood and Adelaide play there is once again supposed to be NT AFL during the afternoon next Saturday.
