How's My Trade Value: Courtney Johns

July 4th 2008 02:42
Player: Courtney Johns

Why their team should trade them:

Johns is a full forward, Essendon don't have a vacancy at that spot, they need to get something for him and Johns needs a new team.

Which team would be a good fit:

Maybe Fremantle would be a good choice, Pavlich and Johns could play close to goal and Johns would be the secondary option like Longmuir used to be beside Pavlich. It would be another case of an Essendon player going to Fremantle though.

Similar trade in the past:

There have been plenty of players who were in the background at one club and then thrived at another club. Jolly at Melbourne was in the shadow of Jeff White and a move to Sydney helped him. Josh Kennedy wasn't getting the ball kicked to him at Carlton, now he is an Eagle he is getting to do a lot more. Scott Welsh has moved twice, traded once and a preseason pick more recently, to teams that have needed a full forward.

Possible trade scenarios:

To Essendon: David Mundy
To Fremantle: Courtney Johns

To Essendon: Xavier Clarke
To St Kilda: Courtney Johns

To Essendon: Colin Sylvia
To Melbourne: Courtney Johns

Are you serious?

Courtney Johns would add no value to any team.

It doesn't matter now, with his knee injury it will be a while before he has a chance to play again.

That article was just a joke. Fremantle have enough Key position forwards. ie
Pavlich and Tarrant not to mention the very talented Ryan Murphy who would just about be a certain started in any side, also Adam Campbell.
And the thought of Courtney Johns being remotely the same value as David Mundy is a slap in the face to David.

When round 22 is over, it is possible that Mundy, Murphy and Warnock will head out the door and back to Victoria. So Fremantle may not be trading from a position of strength, and may have to take what they can or lose them in the preseason draft.
