WC Foll Josh Kennedy, Scott Selwood, Patrick McGinnity

Winner: Collingwood
This one was too close to call, like when they played in the recent finals, but the addition of Cameron Wood helped with the decision. He is the only real ruckman on the teams, and as that is a very important position it is an advantage to Collingwood when comparing their youth with that of the Eagles. There are plenty of stars on both sides, as the Eagles have Ebert, Rosa, Waters, The Masterpiece Chris Masten and their new Mr Kennedy while the Magpies youth include the best Cloke of the current generation, Thomas, Pendlebury, Clarke and the underrated Tyson Goldsack.

They are some good players, and Sullivan is the extra ruckman that West Coast need. But Collingwood are also solid for the rookie list, with another Irishman now in Dyas, Wellingham was close to being promoted to their senior list and Casey-Leigh is a big defender.

The players on the normal list were used as they were more of a chance to be there in the future, although Beau Wilkes has shown a player can have longevity at a club while on the rookie list.

I think you missed a couple. Matt Priddis and Chad Jones.

The teams selected for these posts only used the 18 youngest players on the lists. Waters, who is the oldest player in the team here, and Butler were born in the same year but Waters is younger. Priddis was born a year earlier than Waters and C Jones a couple of years before. If this concept was used a year ago, before the added draft picks and Kennedy via trade, players like Priddis, Butler and C Jones would have been among their 18 youngest on the list.

But those players, and others like Seaby and Hansen, also have plenty of years ahead of them so the Eagles are in good shape.
