Demons’ Deadly Duo Do Dire Damage

Melbourne have two losses, an injury to young star Brock McLean and will now be without most of their forward setup. Neitz is gone for a month, Robertson is gone for a month, Dunn is still out injured too, they are in trouble.

Maybe they go small, with Davey given plenty of space in the forward 50. They could play like the Power, and use Davey, Green, Bruce and maybe Yze in a similar way to what Port Adelaide play with Ebert, Mahoney and their small forwards.

Miller will most likely be the big forward that Melbourne kick to with Neitz sidelined. How well he plays over the next month could determine Melbourne’s success in season 2007.

From the Melbourne Demons site: Neitz, Robertson to miss a month

AFL Fantasy Impact:

For fantasy coaches they need to be aware that the large chasm in the forward line at Melbourne left by Neitz and Robertson will be filled by someone, and they could quickly become a big fantasy player. Brad Miller would be the best choice, he did kick 3 goals against Hawthorn. A Melbourne ruckman also becomes a better fantasy player, they can’t get fantasy points sitting on the bench but maybe White and Jamar will be spending more time on the ground as they can also go forward. Bate could be played closer to goal, taking Robertson’s role. With increased goals it could increase Bate’s fantasy points significantly.

Everyone will have to wait until Thursday, but players like Colin Sylvia, Adem Yze and Paul Johnson could be possible inclusions. Wait until teams are named before trading for any of those players in fantasy leagues. Johnson can provide a marking option in a forward line. 2006 draft pick Colin Garland could also get a surprise game, for fantasy leagues he has a very low price. Ben Holland could be back for the Demons as they need his height.

Don’t forget about Dunn, he might get a VFL game in a week or two and then be playing for the Demons after that.
