Counting Down To The Kangaroos’ First Win
They were close to defeating Hawthorn, they were not blown away by the Power and in the first round they had it all but sealed, but Shannon took the goal for granted. Now as they look for their first win some of their home games will be far from their home, as they play three games on the Gold Coast.
Injuries to Thompson and Harding are not a valid excuse as they were in trouble a long time before that. Strange recruiting decisions didn't just rob their future, it also hurt the present as draft picks were sent out for players who didn't provide any benefits to the Kangaroos.
On the field, they have capable players but the team does not put it together. Or when they do have it working they have a bad quarter which undoes all their previous good work. Possibly they are being out-coached, and games are being won in the last quarter against them as opposition teams are able to find ways to defeat what the Kangaroos are trying to do.
A win should come soon, and they have players in all positions who are performing. There is toughness, Harris and Simpson, in the midfield as well as dash, Wells and Thomas. Hamish McIntosh has also been a very good ruckmen for them. In the back line they have Petrie who is one of their best players, Firrito and Watt can play on other tall forwards. The forward line hasn't really clicked yet, but Hale and Edwards are a promising duo and they are complimented by skilful players like Harvey and Jones.
Lachlan Hansen needs to play too. There is no logic in taking Hansen at pick 3 and then not playing him. The Kangaroos are not playing for this year's AFL Grand Final, they need to get Hansen experience and that will reward them in the future.

9 Melbourne MCG 55%
10 West Coast Subiaco 5%
11 St. Kilda Telstra Dome 33%
12 Adelaide Carrara 40%
