Chad Cornes Could Be A Midfielder
The Power were unstoppable in their first two games, in round 3 they gave the Crows an early lead until Chad Cornes helped the Power get going in the second half, solid play by the Crows and inaccurate kicking by some Power forwards allowed the Crows to hold on for the win. The Power now have to decide if Cornes would help them more in the centre square than he already does at half back.
Story from The Advertiser: Cornes in the middle
AFL Fantasy Impact:
Fantasy coaches who have Cornes on their team will be happy to hear this talk. C Cornes' numbers have been good but not great, when he was in the middle last round it helped him produce his best game for fantasy points so far.
When Cornes is playing against a key forward the other team will try to drag Cornes out of the play by sending their forward closer to goals. This is usually not a useful tactic for Cornes to get fantasy points. With Cornes in the middle, all he needs is a tap from Lade or a handball from Salopek or he can win the ball himself and he will have the football in his hands more and possibly have more fantasy points. If Cornes is at half back he will probably have more marks from opposition kicks, which in some fantasy games can really bring in points, but that could more than balance out with Cornes played in the middle as he would have more total stats and would probably kick a few more goals too.
If Chad Cornes does go into the middle, and averages around 25 to 27 disposals a game, it could make him one of the best fantasy players to have. The fantasy coaches who have the salary cap money and who want Cornes also have a choice as to where he goes in a fantasy team, he can usually be played as a fantasy defender or forward.
