Carlton’s Stevens Not Available This Week
The news is certainly different from Princes Park today as Nick Stevens is now out of the Eagles game and may miss many more. There will be more information from the Blues tomorrow.
News from the Carlton site: Nick Stevens to miss Sunday’s match against West Coast
AFL Fantasy Impact:
This is getting confusing for fantasy coaches, maybe with more information tomorrow it will inform people enough so they can figure out if they need to trade or bench Stevens for their fantasy team. If all they say is that Stevens will miss the Eagles game and they don't know anything else then putting Stevens on the fantasy bench this week might be the right move, as long as there is a good player on the bench to bring in. If it is expected that Stevens will miss more than 1 game then trading him must be the way to go.
If you don't already have Gibbs, a Stevens for Gibbs trade would make sense for a fantasy team. There might be more fantasy options at Carlton, everyone knows about Murphy but there is also Bentick and Blackwell who are underrated. Bentick has been a regular this season for the Blues while Blackwell is yet to play in 2007 but he has been named as an emergency. Trading Stevens for Scotland is another trade to consider, if you have the salary cap space to do it.
There are also many other midfielders to trade Stevens for if that move is needed. A bargain like Lewis, Rodan, Mark McVeigh or Scott Thompson might be a good move. There are also, if you have the money in your cap, the big stars like Judd, Kerr, Kirk, Dal Santo and Bruce to select from.
