Carlton Could Lose Sheldon and Bryan
Sam Sheldon looked like a big chance to be the Blues’ father/son pick in 12 months but he might be able to get there a year earlier after nominating for the upcoming AFL National Draft. But if Carlton don’t want him then the Saints have to be a chance. The Saints have a lot of late draft picks to use and Sheldon probably is taken with one of them. Sam Sheldon has shown good tackling ability, so when he gets into AFL training and bulks up he could be a useful defensive midfielder. His kicking needs a bit of improvement, but that can be said of many of the draft prospects.
According to The Age newspaper, Chris Bryan is another player that may not be at Carlton next season. He has not been a favourite of Coach Pagan’s, and Bryan hardly played this season. It was reported that Collingwood might have interest in Bryan, and he would be a good addition to their team. Rotating Fraser and Bryan through the ruck and a tall forward spot would work. Bryan is a big kick of the football, so if he gets to play with Rocca next season in the Collingwood forward area it would be a highlight for Magpies’ fans.

Rather than a) Risk losing Gibbs in say a few years time, where as while Leueberger west Australian he been a Carlton fan since young which increase chance retaining b) Ruckman desperately needed more so than more midfielders especially taller ruckman, even Ackland is a bit short as far as ruckman go..
Even if Bryan does not go than maybe grab Tippet because we really need Ruckman.
PS. Sheldon probably going to get to Saints and personally they on way down by time he get a game whereas Blues on way up so if that how he want it well ok.
What would you say?
Pick 17 or 19 would likely go on someone like Renouf or Tippett. Goldstein could be the big mover on draft day and also be a chance around these picks.
Another ruck prospect at 51 or 67 is possible too. There are a couple more ruckman from Queensland, Hampson and White, and they might be drafted in this part of the draft. There will be a final mock draft on Friday with all picks covered and Carlton will probably have at least two ruckmen in that.
The Sheldon news is a surprise. If he gets picked then he gets paid next year for playing and is also a chance to go to the Blues or Saints as they both have a lot of picks, and if he doesn't get picked he could be back in the TAC Cup and will be a chance at the Carlton father/son pick in 2007.
