Australian Football Sesquicentennial Celebrations Suggestions
It seems like it was just over a decade ago when the AFL were celebrating a century, and it was. Next year is being planned as a celebration of the sesquicentennial of the invention of Australian football.
In the coming weeks an assortment of suggestions will be posted, to honour the traditions of the past and to entertain the fans of the present.
Thursday night football in July and August might be appropriate. An interesting and fan interactive State Of Origin idea, allowing one round for supporters to bring in old phone books, the usual "throwback uniforms" round, preseason games played at Windy Hill, Moorabbin and other suburban grounds.
There will be a lot of ideas that have no chance of happening, and some that really do make sense, and you can also post your own thoughts too. But don’t suggest a big tent on the MCG for a celebratory dinner, as that is unfortunately one of the things that might be happening, again.
