AFL Versus The World - Volleyball

Jeff White
Shaun Hampson
Patrick Ryder
Dean Cox
Lance Franklin
Lachlan Hansen

Jeff White could have probably been the greatest volleyball player in the world, he is the prototype for that sport. But as everyone struggles just a tad to name the greatest volleyball player in the world it was probably a good thing for him that he didn't go down that path.

Leuenberger and Cox in the same team, that is something West Coast fans are hoping for, and until this post was updated with Ryder substituted for Leuenberger this team did have both of the two big West Australians. Franklin, Hansen and Hampson add more players with height, some underrated agility and jumping ability.

For volleyball, they aren't mobile enough and don't have the quick jumping ability that is needed. But they would be useful blocking at the net.

Probably a good idea to put him in, with the ball up in the air ready for someone to spike it, Ryder would be the one for that.

so whos in what positions there are 2 spikers which probably are cox and white who is setter and the backcourt players

u should at least have some midfielders in the backcourt like judd coz u need quick people in the backcourt to dig back those hard spikes

The team was picked with 6 AFL players who would be good to have on a basic volleyball team, and would be rotated around the court through the positions.

For more specialized players, someone with good hands like McPhee could set the ball while your idea for midfielders in the back of the court makes sense. Judd could obviously do it, mainly because he could be picked for nearly any other sport.

Prob should have had Ash Hansen... played in my vball team... star. Dave Hille is another ex-vballer, would have been handy

The above team did have a Hansen, Lachlan Hansen of the Kangaroos, so that was close.

Thank you for the information, it would be interesting to find out how many potential two-sport stars are in the AFL.
