Except for selling canned fruit, rowers don't get a lot of endorsement opportunities, and their average salary would be much lower than that of AFL players.

Another multi-sport athlete, thank you for pointing that out. Taylor does have the rowing size and shape, but even if he was great at it, rowing would not provide what AFL can so he made the right choice there. For 2008, he has to have a big preseason as there is a lot of competition for ruck spots at Hawthorn now.
