AFL Round 5 Teams and Fantasy News

Port Adelaide v St Kilda

Port Adelaide

FB: Thurstans, Wakelin, Wilson
HB: Surjan, C.Cornes, Symes
C: Cassisi, S.Burgoyne, Salopek
HF: Mahoney, Tredrea, Rodan
FF: Ebert, White, Lade
Foll: Brogan, K.Cornes, P.Burgoyne

bench: Bentley, Krakouer, Lonie, Pettigrew

emergency: Chaplin, Logan, Thomas

In: Brogan
Out: Logan

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Too late to change fantasy teams for this round, but plenty of things to watch. Lade's stats might take a small hit with Brogan back but it might not occur in this game. The Saints don't have many tall defenders and Lade might kick a few goals in this game, and he will also be tough for Clarke to stop around the ground too.

St Kilda

FB: Gilbert, Goddard, L.Fisher
HB: Voss, Koschitzke, Gram
C: Blake, Hayes, Harvey
HF: Montagna, Riewoldt, Ball
FF: Brooks, Gehrig, Milne
Foll: M.Clarke, Baker, Dal Santo

bench: Attard, X.Clarke, Fiora, Thompson

emergency: Gwilt, McQualter, Rix

In: Brooks, Gehrig, Gilbert, Voss
Out: S.Fisher, Gwilt, McQualter, Rix

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Voss is in for his first game of the season, and this year he doesn't have to be called "B Voss" as he is the only one playing now. Voss might become a regular for the Saints and might have some potential for fantasy points. If Koschitzke is a big defender it might make Barry Brooks a solid fantasy player, in his one game last season Brooks was able to kick a few goals.

Richmond v West Coast

Richmond

FB: Newman, Gaspar, McGuane
HB: Raines, J.Bowden, Deledio
C: Tivendale, Johnson, Hyde
HF: Pettifer, Schulz, Krakouer
FF: Tambling, Richardson, Polak

Foll: Simmonds, Tuck, Foley

bench: Hughes, Jackson, King, Edwards

emergency: Oakley-Nicholls, White, Pattison

In: Hughes, Jackson
Out: Bowden, Polo

AFL Fantasy Watch:
It's going to be a busy time for Daniel Jackson, on the Stargate TV show on Friday and playing AFL on Saturday. He probably won't be a big fantasy player. A player who has taken a big slide in AFL fantasy is P Bowden, from a top 20 spot last year to now a regular in the VFL. Edwards is a player to watch for a fantasy bargain.

West Coast

FB: Wirrpanda, Glass, Hurn
HB: Waters, Hunter, Selwood
C: Embley, Priddis, Braun
HF: Stenglein, Hansen, Chick
FF: Armstrong, Lynch, R.Jones
Foll: Cox, Judd, Kerr

bench: Rosa, Seaby, Staker, B.Jones

emergency: Graham, LeCras, Fletcher

AFL Fantasy Watch:
The Eagles had huge stats last week, that should happen again.

Carlton v Brisbane

Carlton

FB: Gibbs, S.O'hAilpin, Thornton,
HB: Scotland, Whitnall, Houlihan
C: Waite, Bentick, Walker
HF: Carrazzo, Cloke, Wiggins
FF: Kennedy, Fevola, Lappin
Foll: Ackland, Murphy, Simpson

bench: Anderson, Betts, Jackson, Russell

emergency: Blackwell, Hartlett, Bower

In: Jackson
Out: Fisher

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Fisher's injury should make someone a better fantasy player, it could be Whitnall, Kennedy, Wiggins or maybe C Cloke.

Brisbane

FB: Johnson, Merrett, Roe
HB: Adcock, Brennan, Copeland
C: Sherman, Fixter, Stiller
HF: Harding, Brown, Notting
FF: Rischitelli, Patfull, McGrath
Foll: Charman, Black, Power

bench: Hadley, Begley, McDonald, Allan

emergency: Wood, Moody, Sheldon

In: McDonald, Allan
Out: Moody, Wood

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Time to sign Charman, or at least think about it for next week, as Wood is out of the team. Hadley is still a cheap fantasy player for someone wanting a midfielder.

Sydney v Melbourne

Sydney

FB: Richards, Barry, Malceski
HB: Kennelly, C.Bolton, Mathews
C: Buchanan, Kirk, McVeigh
HF: R.O'Keefe, O'Loughlin, J.Bolton
FF: Schneider, Hall, Ablett
Foll: Jolly, Goodes, Fosdike

bench: Everitt, Davis, Schmidt, Crouch

emergency: Grundy, Moore, Laidlaw

In: Davis
Out: Grundy

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Davis is obviously a player to watch, he might not be used too much in this game though. Jolly has been getting a lot of fantasy points, he won't have it easy against White and Jamar in the ruck, but he may again sneak forward and kick a goal or two which is helping his fantasy points.

Melbourne

FB: Bruce, Carroll, P.Johnson
HB: Brown, Rivers, Bell
C: Moloney, McDonald, Yze
HF: Johnson, Miller, Pickett
FF: Dunn, Jamar, Davey
Foll: White, Bate, Johnstone

bench: Petterd, Godfrey, Sylvia, Garland

emergency: Bizzell, Ward, Buckley

In: Rivers, Moloney, Johnstone, C.Johnson, Petterd, Garland
Out: Wheatley, Whelan, Jones, Green, Ward, Bizzell

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Time to forget about Bizzell, but plenty of other Melbourne players could help fantasy teams. Davey and Yze are back in form, Dunn kicked some goals last week and there are also two new players. Garland, a big forward from Tasmania, was good in the VFL and might kick a goal or two in this game. Petterd is a much better fantasy option, a small player in the back line who can get a lot of the ball. He is also the closest thing to Hannibal Smith that the AFL has had since Mick Peppard played for the Bombers.

Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs

Hawthorn

FB: Guerra, Gilham, Sewell
HB: Ladson, Hodge, Brown
C: Birchall, Mitchell, Lewis
HF: Young, Franklin, Bateman
FF: Boyle, Roughead, Dixon
Foll: Campbell, Osborne, Crawford

bench from: Ellis, Taylor, McGlynn, Murphy, Muston, Smith, Thurgood

In: Ladson, Smith, Thurgood, Murphy, Muston
Out: Williams, Jacobs

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Fantasy teams this week could be in trouble if they had Williams and Jacobs playing. Williams is out for a month. Gilham will be a player to look at next week, he has been playing well. There is obviously a lot more opportunity for someone around goals with Williams out and Dixon, Boyle or Roughead might see their fantasy points go up.

Western Bulldogs

FB: McMahon, Harris, Morris
HB: Gilbee, Wight, Hargrave
C: Eagleton, S.West, Cross
HF: Giansiracusa, Johnson, Griffen
FF: Murphy, Darcy, Akermanis
Foll: Minson, Boyd, Cooney

bench from: Addison, Williams, Harbrow, Ray, Power, Higgins, Robbins

In: Akermanis, Cross, Power

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Williams and Harbrow are possibilities for this match, if they only keep one of them playing AFL this week it might be Williams as they need some height. Both players are a chance to help fantasy teams if they keep playing with the Bulldogs. Cross will be back to his high possessions, Power was very good before he was hurt and still might be someone to sign next week, Akermanis is a player to wait and see when it comes to fantasy points.

Geelong v Kangaroos

Geelong

FB: Mackie, Scarlett, Enright
HB: D.Johnson, Egan, Milburn
C: Wojcinski, Bartel, Stokes
HF: Chapman, Mooney, Kelly
FF: Hawkins, N.Ablett, G.Ablett
Foll: King, Ling, Corey

bench from: Prismall, Blake, Selwood, Varcoe, Byrnes, Ottens, Tenace

In: Selwood, Ottens, Varcoe, Tenace
Out: Hunt

AFL Fantasy Watch:
G Ablett and Ottens are named so that is important for fantasy teams. Chapman hasn't been at his best so far this year, he cost a lot and if he doesn't bring in huge fantasy points for this game it might be time to trade him.

Kangaroos

FB: Archer, Petrie, Gibson
HB: Pratt, Watt, Firrito
C: Wells, Harris, Rawlings
HF: Adams, Brown, Swallow
FF: Harvey, Edwards, Campbell
Foll: McIntosh, Grant, Simpson

bench from: Sinclair, Jones, Grima, Trotter, Moran, Green, Smith

In: Adams, Moran, Smith, Trotter
Out: Thomas

AFL Fantasy Watch:
If Moran plays it won't be good for McIntosh's stats. Brown kicked goals last week and if he does it again he could join a lot more fantasy teams.

Fremantle v Adelaide

Fremantle

FB: Hayden, McPharlin, Mundy
HB: Grover, Johnson, Dodd
C: McManus, Hasleby, Black
HF: Headland, Pavlich, Solomon
FF: Bell, Tarrant, Gilmore
Foll: Sandilands, M.Carr, J.Carr

bench from: Cook, Walker, Webster, Campbell, Crowley, Warnock, Collard

In: Johnson, Warnock, Collard, Cook
Out: Parker

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Johnson is an important piece of their back line and a good fantasy defender. Sandilands probably won't lose many stats if Warnock does play, Collard is someone to watch if he plays and he might be a surprise fantasy player if he stays in the team.

Adelaide

FB: McLeod, Rutten, Bassett
HB: van Berlo, Stevens, Doughty
C: Burton, Goodwin, Mattner
HF: Knights, Bock, Reilly
FF: Porplyzia, Perrie, Welsh
Foll: Hudson, Edwards, Thompson

bench from: Griffin, Bode, Shirley, Torney, McGregor, Douglas, Vince

In: Bode, Shirley, McGregor

AFL Fantasy Watch:
McLeod has been worth the big money for fantasy teams, there have also been some bargains to find at Adelaide with Knights and others producing.
