AFL Round 4 Teams and Fantasy News
Richmond v Western Bulldogs
Richmond
FB: Raines, Gaspar, McGuane
HB: Newman, J.Bowden, Deledio
C: Tambling, Tuck, Tivendale
HF: Pettifer, Polak, Hyde
FF: Krakouer, Richardson, Schulz
Foll: Simmonds, Johnson, Foley
bench: Polo, P.Bowden, King, Edwards
emergency: Jackson, Oakley-Nicholls, Riewoldt
In: King, Edwards, P.Bowden
Out: Moore, Pattison, Howatt
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Bowden, the Patrick version, is back for the Tigers but wait at least a week before putting him back in fantasy teams, just to see what his role is and how many minutes he is playing. Pattison out could be good for Polak's numbers, Polak would be expected to see some minutes as Simmonds backup. If you have the fantasy cap space, Simmonds is worth signing for the ruck spot.
Western Bulldogs
FB: McMahon, Harris, Morris
HB: Gilbee, Wight, Hargrave
C: Eagleton, S.West, Cross
HF: Giansiracusa, Johnson, Griffen
FF: Murphy, Darcy, Higgins
Foll: Minson, Boyd, Cooney
bench: Addison, Williams, Harbrow, Ray
emergency: Robbins, Faulkner, Montgomery
In: Williams, Harbrow,
Out: Power, Street
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Minson has been down in production the past couple of games, his numbers should pick up with Street out of the team. Tom Williams is a player to watch, while key position in size it was his draft tests that really showed a lot of athleticism that made him a high draft pick several years ago. Maybe Williams has lost a bit of ability, due to all his foot injuries, but he still has the potential to cover a lot of ground and that can equal fantasy points. Power started the season off with some good games but he will miss a few games and might need to be traded by fantasy teams.
Collingwood v Port Adelaide
Collingwood
FB: Lockyer, Prestigiacomo, Cox
HB: H.Shaw, Clement, R.Shaw
C: Pendlebury, Toovey, Thomas
HF: Maxwell, Cloke, Licuria
FF: Swan, Rocca, Medhurst
Foll: Fraser, O'Bree, Dick
bench: Burns, Davis, O'Brien, Richards
emergency: Johnson, Bryan, Iles
In: Clement
Out: Wakelin
AFL Fantasy Watch:
A lot of fantasy interest in the Collingwood players. Thomas and Pendlebury look like players to sign, there is also value in other young players like Toovey.
Port Adelaide
FB: Thurstans, Wakelin, Surjan
HB: Wilson, C.Cornes, Pettigrew
C: Cassisi, S.Burgoyne, Salopek
HF: Mahoney, Tredrea, Bentley
FF: Ebert, White, Krakouer
Foll: Lade, K.Cornes, P.Burgoyne
bench: Logan, Lonie, Rodan, Symes
emergency: Chaplin, Deluca, Thomas
In: Symes
Out: Brogan
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Symes is back, he was famous for his fantasy points last season so his performance will need to be watched. Brogan is the only out, Lade is a great player for fantasy points when he does share the ruck spot but now he will do a bit more.
St Kilda v Essendon
St Kilda
FB: Blake, S.Fisher, L.Fisher
HB: Attard, Gram, Goddard
C: X.Clarke, Harvey, Fiora
HF: Dal Santo, Riewoldt, McQualter
FF: Brooks, Koschitzke, Milne
Foll: Rix, Ball, Baker
bench: M.Clarke, Hayes, Montagna, Thompson
emergency: Gwilt, Jones, Voss
In: Ball, M.Clarke
Out: Gehrig, Jones
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Gehrig will have a rest this week, it will probably help the fantasy numbers of Riewoldt and Koschitzke. Gehrig will need to be benched for this week by fantasy teams. Ball is back, probably better not to be in a rush to sign him. Fiora and X Clarke have been going along nicely and fantasy coaches who signed them early are getting some good numbers. The Fisher kings continue to bring in a lot of fantasy points.
Essendon
FB: Ryder, Michael, Slattery
HB: McPhee, Fletcher, McVeigh
C: Dyson, Stanton, Lovett
HF: M.Johnson, Lucas, Hird
FF: Laycock, Lloyd, Davey
Foll: Hille, Peverill, Winderlich
bench: Heffernan, Monfries, Watson, Jetta
emergency: Bradley, Johns, Dempsey
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Still time to sign fantasy stars like McPhee and Winderlich. Dyson keeps his place in the team so he is worth considering.
Kangaroos v Brisbane
Kangaroos
FB: Firrito, Petrie, Pratt
HB: Watt, Gibson, Green
C: Sinclair, Grant, Simpson
HF: Wells, Jones, Campbell
FF: Harvey, Edwards, Thomas
Foll: McIntosh, Harris, Rawlings
bench: Brown, Archer, Swallow, Grima
emergency: Trotter, Moran, Sansbury
In: Archer, Grima
Out: Hale, Sansbury
AFL Fantasy Watch:
This round is the time to get Aaron Edwards into your starting lineup. With Hale out he should kick a few goals. Archer is back in the team, he might not do enough for fantasy stats this year. Gibson is a player to consider signing, also think about going with McIntosh if you need a ruckman for your fantasy team.
Brisbane
FB: Begley, Merrett, Roe
HB: Adcock, Brennan, Copeland
C: Sherman, Fixter, Stiller
HF: Johnson, Brown, Notting
FF: Rischitelli, Patfull, McGrath
Foll: Wood, Black, Power
bench: Lappin, Charman, Harding, Hadley
emergency: McDonald, Moody, Mills
In: Charman, Roe, Lappin
Out: Moody, McDonald, Mills
AFL Fantasy Watch:
While Lappin and Charman get the coverage in the media as the important inclusions, for fantasy AFL it is Roe to look at. He is over his injury and will be a very productive player for fantasy points. Lappin would also be worth starting now he is back in the team, maybe wait on trading for or playing Charman as his role is hard to predict. Charman could be a backup ruckman in this game.
Adelaide v Sydney
Adelaide
FB: Douglas, Rutten, Bassett
HB: McLeod, Stevens, Doughty
C: Burton, Goodwin, Mattner
HF: Vince, Bock, Reilly
FF: Porplyzia, Perrie, Welsh
Foll: Hudson, Edwards, Thompson
bench: Griffen, van Berlo, Torney, Knights
emergency: Jericho, Hinge, McIntyre
AFL Fantasy Watch:
No changes, but a few Crows do have some injury problems. Some talk that Van Berlo and Porplyzia were hurt. Hudson is a good fantasy ruck option, his knee is not giving him any problems.
Sydney
FB: Richards, Barry, Malceski
HB: Kennelly, C.Bolton, Mathews
C: Buchanan, Kirk, Schneider
HF: R.O'Keefe, O'Loughlin, J.Bolton
FF: McVeigh, Hall, Ablett
Foll: Jolly, Goodes, Fosdike
bench: Everitt, Grundy, Schmidt, Crouch
emergency: Vogels, Moore, Laidlaw
In: Crouch
Out: Dempster
AFL Fantasy Watch:
They have a settled lineup so that helps with picking players for fantasy teams. Dempster has a long-term injury and Crouch has been named in his place. Maybe Crouch will bring in some fantasy points but maybe not a lot in his first game back.
Hawthorn v Geelong
Hawthorn
FB: Jacobs, Gilham, Brown
HB: Birchall, Hodge, Ladson
C: Bateman, Sewell, Crawford
HF: Young, Boyle, Franklin
FF: Williams, Dixon, Roughead
Foll: Campbell, Mitchell, Lewis
bench from: Dawson, Ellis, Guerra, McGlynn, Taylor, Thurgood, Osborne
In: Bateman, Thurgood, Dawson
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Bateman is back, again, so maybe fantasy teams can have him in their lineup too. Players like Young, Lewis, Ladson and Sewell have been very good for fantasy teams.
Geelong
FB: Mackie, Scarlett, Enright
HB: J.Hunt, Egan, Milburn
C: Wojcinski, Bartel, Byrnes
HF: Chapman, Mooney, Kelly
FF: Hawkins, N.Ablett, G.Ablett
Foll: Blake, Ling, Corey
bench from: Prismall, D.Johnson, Tenace, King, Selwood, Gardiner, Stokes
In: N.Ablett, Tenace, King, Gardiner, Stokes
Out: Varcoe, Ottens
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Ottens is out so Hawkins and N Ablett will have a lot of the ball kicked to them. King is in, he will share the ruck minutes with Blake, neither player will do much for fantasy points.
Melbourne v Fremantle
Melbourne
FB: Rivers, Carroll, Whelan
HB: Ward, Wheatley, Bell
C: Moloney, McDonald, Green
HF: Bruce, Miller, Pickett
FF: Godfrey, Jamar, Davey
Foll: White, Jones, Johnstone
bench from: Yze, Brown, P.Johnson, Bate, Bizzell, Dunn, Petterd
In: Bizzell, Dunn, Petterd, Pickett, Rivers
Out: Holland, Ferguson
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Pickett and Rivers are definite inclusions, Rivers might be good for fantasy stats this week although waiting one more week before trading for him might be a good idea. Pickett is inconsistent for stats, as they don't count bumps and some of the things he does to help his team win.
Fremantle
FB: Hayden, McPharlin, Parker
HB: Mundy, Grover, Dodd
C: McManus, Hasleby, Black
HF: Headland, Pavlich, Crowley
FF: Bell, Tarrant, Solomon
Foll: Sandilands, M.Carr, J.Carr
bench from: Cook, Campbell, Duffield, Gilmore, Walker, Webster, Warnock
In: Black, Campbell, Duffield, Warnock, Webster
Out: Browne, Longmuir
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Warnock gives them a big ruckman to have as Sandilands' backup. With Longmuir out it will affect the forward line, so there might be even more stats for Pavlich and Tarrant. This is the last game the Dockers will play before Johnson returns, so don't trade for someone like Grover or Parker as Johnson will take their stats next week.
West Coast v Carlton
West Coast
FB: Wirrpanda, Glass, B.Jones
HB: Waters, Hunter, Hurn
C: Rosa, Selwood, Braun
HF: Stenglein, Staker, Chick
FF: Embley, Lynch, Seaby
Foll: Cox, Judd, Kerr
bench from: Armstrong, Hansen, R.Jones, Priddis, Graham, LeCras, Brown
In: Graham, LeCras, Brown
AFL Fantasy Watch:
As long as Brown and Graham stay as emergencies, Staker should again have a big role and will be good for fantasy numbers. Cox will be better this week after playing a game and his minutes should be up. Armstrong has been kicking goals, if he continues to do that then his fantasy price will go up.
Carlton
FB: Anderson, S.O'hAilpin, Thornton
HB: Scotland, Waite, Walker
C: Gibbs, Bentick, Houlihan
HF: Carrazzo, Whitnall, Betts
FF: Fisher, Fevola, Lappin
Foll: Ackland, Murphy, Simpson
bench from: Blackwell, Cloke, Hartlett, Jackson, Kennedy, Russell, Wiggins
In: Anderson, Blackwell, Hartlett, Jackson
Out: Stevens
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Stevens is out for the year, so he needs to be traded from fantasy AFL teams right now.
