AFL Round 12 Teams and Fantasy News
Carlton v Hawthorn
Carlton
FB: Gibbs, Thornton, Saddington
HB: Scotland, Waite, Walker
C: Simpson, Bentick, Houlihan
HF: Lappin, Whitnall, Murphy
FF: Blackwell, Fevola, Fisher
Foll: Ackland, Koutoufides, Carrazzo
bench: Bannister, O'hAilpin, Russell, Wiggins
emergency: Bower, Hartlett, Young
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Waite is expected to be given the job of slowing down Lance Franklin. That might also slow down Waite's fantasy points. Koutoufides has been very productive in his minutes off the bench. Carrazzo has joined Scotland as an elite fantasy player.
Hawthorn
FB: Brown, Gilham, Guerra
HB: Ladson, Croad, Birchall
C: Lewis, Sewell, Bateman
HF: Mitchell, Franklin, Crawford
FF: Jacobs, Roughead, Boyle
Foll: Campbell, McGlynn, Hodge
bench: Young, Osborne, Smith, Taylor
emergency: Ellis, Murphy, Thorp
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Croad and Boyle might miss. Murphy was very good for fantasy points earlier in the year, and he and Thorp will play if the other bigs miss. Thorp is someone to sign at a low price as he should be able to keep his spot for the rest of the year now that he has his chance.
Kangaroos v Adelaide
Adelaide
FB: Bassett, Rutten, Johncock
HB: Torney, McGregor, McLeod
C: Mattner, Shirley, Doughty
HF: Welsh, Bock, Thompson
FF: Porplyzia, Ricciuto, Stevens
Foll: Hudson, Goodwin, Edwards
bench: Griffin, van Berlo, Knights, Massie
emergency: Vince, Douglas, Jericho
In: Massie
Out: Jericho
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Massie costs too much, after a good fantasy stats season in 2006. His inclusion might mean more of a midfield role for Mattner, which should help his stats. Goodwin was hurt last week, and it might be a safe move not to sign him now in case he doesn't play.
Kangaroos
FB: Archer, Firrito, Pratt
HB: Smith, Petrie, Watt
C: Rawlings, Swallow, Wells
HF: Harvey, Hale, Grant
FF: Jones, Brown, Edwards
Foll: McIntosh, Simpson, Harris
bench: Lower, Sinclair, Campbell, Thomas
emergency: Sansbury, Green, Whyman
In: Wells
Out: Green
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Wells is back a bit ahead of schedule. McIntosh might have peaked for fantasy points, he is not going at the same pace he was earlier in the year.
Western Bulldogs v Fremantle
Western Bulldogs
FB: McMahon, Harris, Morris
HB: Gilbee, Williams, Hargrave
C: Eagleton, West, Akermanis
HF: Giansiracusa, Johnson, Hahn
FF: Murphy, Darcy, Higgins
Foll: Street, Cooney, Boyd
bench: Addison, Lynch, Harbrow, Ray
emergency: Everitt, Minson, Power
In: Lynch, McMahon
Out: Cross, Griffen
AFL Fantasy Watch:
McMahon was a player to sign before his poor performance against Carlton. With Griffen out for several matches it is safe to sign McMahon again. The Bulldogs probably will use Lynch in bursts off the bench, in the middle and possibly up forward. He could keep his spot in the team with a solid game, so it might be worth signing him. The injuries to key Bulldogs could also mean more minutes and a bigger role for Higgins.
Fremantle
FB: Hayden, Grover, Dodd
HB: Mundy, Johnson, Black
C: Peake, Bell, Walker
HF: Headland, Pavlich, Solomon
FF: Thornton, Tarrant, McPharlin
Foll: Sandilands, Hasleby, J.Carr
bench: Crowley, M.Carr, McManus, Warnock
emergency: Cook, Drum, Ibbotson
In: Crowley
Out: Ibbotson
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Like Collard earlier in the year, Ibbotson only got a brief appearance before going back to the WAFL. Sandilands is not totally fit, which means if he misses then Warnock gets a whole game to get stats.
Geelong v Brisbane
Geelong
FB: Milburn, Scarlett, Enright
HB: Harley, Egan, Mackie
C: Wojcinski, Bartel, Corey
HF: Chapman, Mooney, Varcoe
FF: S.Johnson, N.Ablett, Stokes
Foll: Ottens, G.Ablett, Ling
bench from: Blake, Tenace, Kelly, Selwood, J.Hunt, Prismall, Gardiner
In: Selwood, J.Hunt, Prismall, Gardiner
Out: Rooke
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Rooke is only out for 1 game. All four of the possible inclusions starred in the VFL last week, so check the news on Friday to see which player makes it into the team.
Brisbane
FB: MacDonald, Merrett, Brennan
HB: Adcock, Drummond, Copeland
C: Notting, Lappin, Stiller
HF: Sherman, Brown, Selwood
FF: Rischitelli, Patfull, Wood
Foll: Charman, Black, Hadley
bench from: McGrath, Hooper, Begley, Roe, Tyler, Dzufer, Proud
In: Wood, McGrath, Roe, Tyler, Dzufer, Proud
Out: Clark, Schmidt, Allan
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Once again the Lions make a lot of changes. With Clark out it seems that Charman might spend more time as a forward, as Wood has been included. McGrath, if healthy, must be one of the other inclusions. That leaves Roe, who used to be great for fantasy points, or one of the first-game players. Proud and Dzufer might help fantasy teams more than Tyler. Proud probably plays a lot of the games to finish the season and he might help fantasy teams a lot.
Port Adelaide v Essendon
Port Adelaide
FB: Thurstans, Wakelin, Wilson
HB: Symes, C.Cornes, Surjan
C: Cassisi, S.Burgoyne, Salopek
HF: Pearce, Tredrea, P.Burgoyne
FF: Westhoff, White, Ebert
Foll: Lade, K.Cornes, D.Rodan
bench from: Gray, Bentley, Boak, Brogan, Lower, Pettigrew, Thomson
In: Bentley, Boak, Lower, Thomson
Out: Krakouer
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Westhoff is a definite starter, and there is only a day to sign him before his price rises. Gray is only a possible starter at this time, but if he is named to play tomorrow night he is another inexpensive player to think about. Boak might finally play, as Krakouer won't be there. Salopek is playing well and can help a fantasy team in the middle. C Cornes should bounce back after being contained for much of the game last round.
Essendon
FB: Hird, Michael, Bolton
HB: McVeigh, Ryder, Fletcher
C: Slattery, Stanton, McPhee
HF: Welsh, Lucas, Peverill
FF: J.Johnson, Lloyd, Davey
Foll: Hille, Watson, Winderlich
bench from: Monfries, Laycock, Camporeale, Johns, J.Johnson, Heffernan, Nash
In: Johns, Heffernan, Nash
AFL Fantasy Watch:
After defeating the Eagles last round, the Bombers might have an unchanged side this week. Lucas seems to be back in form, and he usually puts together a streak of good games so he might be a forward to add this week.
Round 12 games for next week.
Fantasy coaches have to be careful signing players from these teams, as fantasy games are locked in tomorrow for all of the round 12 matches. These are the sides that were named for last week's matches, there are some changes that will have to be made by teams but they won't be announced until next week.
Richmond
FB: King, Thursfield, Bowden
HB: Raines, Polak, Newman
C: White, Tuck, Howat
HF: Pettifer, Richardson, Edwards
FF: Tambling, Deledio, Jackson
Foll: Pattison, Johnson, Foley
bench: Kingsley, Hughes, Polo, Hyde
emergency: Tivendale, McGuane, Schulz
AFL Fantasy Watch:
The Tigers played well last week so they might not make many changes.
Melbourne
FB: Ward, Carroll, Bruce
HB: Wheatley, Bizzell, Bell
C: Johnstone, McDonald, Davey
HF: Green, Robertson, Godfrey
FF: Sylvia, Neitz, Bate
Foll: White, McLean, Jones
bench: P. Johnson, Petterd, Frawley, Holland
emergency: Brown, Yze, Buckley
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Holland was a special inclusion as the "Rocca stopper", he might keep his spot to play on Richardson. Bate had a big game against the Magpies and he has value in fantasy leagues. Robertson is also a chance to kick a lot of goals again, this should be a wide open game with plenty of scoring and the Tigers may not have a great matchup for him, although Raines was able to keep Tarrant quiet last week.
Sydney
FB: Richards, Barry, Dempster
HB: Kennelly, C.Bolton, Mathews
C: Schmidt, Kirk, Malceski
HF: R.O'Keefe, O'Loughlin, J.Bolton
FF: Davis, Hall, Buchanan
Foll: Everitt, Goodes, Fosdike
bench: Schneider, McVeigh, Jolly, Bevan
emergency: Ablett, Grundy, Thornton
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Kennelly is one player here who will miss. Ablett was replaced by Schmidt before the game last week and both players might be in the team next week. Jolly has a sore knee at the moment, the extra week of rest should help but if deciding between the two Sydney ruckmen it is best to take Everitt.
Collingwood
FB: Lockyer, Wakelin, Holland
HB: H.Shaw, O’Brien, Stanley
C: Pendlebury, Medhurst, Davis
HF: Maxwell, Cloke, Didak
FF: Swan, Rocca, Johnson
Followers: Fraser, O’Bree, Burns
bench: Thomas, Goldsack, Toovey, Bryan
emergency: Cox, Licuria, R.Shaw
AFL Fantasy Watch:
R Shaw missed last week, he might return but O'Brien will be unavailable.
West Coast
FB: Wirrpanda, Glass, B.Jones
HB: LeCras, Hunter, Selwood
C: Stenglein, Fletcher, Braun
HF: R.Jones, Staker, Morton
FF: Chick, Lynch, Seaby
Foll: Cox, Judd, Kerr
bench: Hurn, Brown, Priddis, Rosa
emergency: Armstrong, MacKenzie, Waters
AFL Fantasy Watch:
They lost another game so some changes are expected. Waters was a late change last week, he might not be back for this game. The Eagles might bring in another tall defender as the Saints can play several talls up forward.
St Kilda
FB: Blake, Hudghton, Gwilt
HB: Attard, S.Fisher, Baker
C: Gilbert, Ball, Gram
HF: Montagna, Riewoldt, Fiora
FF: Milne, Gehrig, R.Clarke
Foll: Koschitzke, Hayes, Dal Santo
bench: Rix, Thompson, Voss, Howard
emergency: Watts, Jones, X.Clarke
AFL Fantasy Watch:
Gehrig was expected to miss this game because of his hand injury. There are some reports saying he might play. This would be a big game to play Gardiner in, not sure he is ready yet, and fantasy coaches should not be signing him.
Carlton
FB: Gibbs, Thornton, Saddington
HB: Scotland, Waite, Walker
C: Simpson, Bentick, Houlihan
