AFL Round 11 Teams and Fantasy News

Essendon v West Coast

Essendon

FB: McVeigh, Michael, Bolton
HB: M.Johnson, Ryder, Fletcher
C: Peverill, Watson, McPhee
HF: Welsh, Lucas, Hird
FF: J.Johnson, Lloyd, Davey
Foll: Hille, Stanton, Winderlich

bench: Monfries, Laycock, Camporeale, Slattery

emergency: Johns, Cole, Nash

In: Camporeale, Peverill
Out: Houli, Nash

AFL Fantasy Watch:
This might not be the week to sign Fletcher, the Eagles often will send a player forward to stop an opposition defender running around without a player. It never is a week to sign Camporeale, but the other inclusion Peverill gets plenty of the ball.

West Coast

FB: Wirrpanda, Glass, B.Jones
HB: Waters, Hunter, Selwood
C: Stenglein, Fletcher, Braun
HF: R.Jones, Staker, Morton
FF: Chick, Lynch, Seaby
Foll: Cox, Judd, Kerr

bench: Hurn, Brown, Priddis, Rosa

emergency: Armstrong, LeCras, McKenzie

In: Kerr
Out: LeCras

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Kerr is playing, and that must have an effect on other midfielders. Priddis won't be getting close to 40 possessions now. Morton has been kicking goals, he and Brown are among the inexpensive fantasy players, Brown is the cheaper of the two.

Hawthorn v Sydney

Hawthorn

FB: Gilham, Brown, Guerra
HB: Ladson, Croad, Birchall
C: Lewis, Mitchell, Bateman
HF: McGlynn, Franklin, Crawford
FF: Jacobs, Boyle, Roughead
Foll: Campbell, Sewell, Hodge

bench: Young, Osborne, Smith, Taylor

emergency: Ellis, Murphy, Thurgood

In: Croad, Ladson
Out: Ellis, Dixon

AFL Fantasy Watch:
They lose some goals with Dixon out, maybe Roughead will be the player to score more. Franklin also kicked goals last week.

Sydney

FB: Richards, Barry, Dempster
HB: Kennelly, C.Bolton, Mathews
C: Ablett, Kirk, Malceski
HF: R.O'Keefe, O'Loughlin, J.Bolton
FF: Davis, Hall, Buchanan
Foll: Everitt, Goodes, Fosdike

bench: Schneider, McVeigh, Jolly, Bevan

emergency: Schmidt, Grundy, Thornton

AFL Fantasy Watch:
It might not be the time to sign Everitt, as free kicks are a negative stat and anything could happen here. Goodes has not had his best year, but against Hawthorn he might have a big game.

Brisbane v Western Bulldogs

Brisbane

FB: Begley, Merrett, Brennan
HB: Adcock, Drummond, Copeland
C: Notting, Lappin, Stiller
HF: Sherman, Brown, Selwood
FF: Clark, Patfull, McGrath
Foll: Charman, Black, Hadley

bench: Rischitelli, Hooper, MacDonald, Allan

emergency: Schmidt, Proud, wood

In: McGrath, Allan, MacDonald
Out: Johnson, Schmidt, Harding

AFL Fantasy Watch:
MacDonald was useful last season but is not a star for fantasy points and his price at the moment is a bit high. Drummond was one of the best last round, he could have another big game this week. They didn't bring in another ruckman so Charman will be better for stats than if Wood was out there too.

Western Bulldogs

FB: Griffen, Harris, Morris
HB: Gilbee, Williams, Hargrave
C: Eagleton, West, Akermanis
HF: Giansiracusa, Johnson, Cooney
FF: Murphy, Darcy, Higgins
Foll: Street, Cross, Boyd

bench: Addison, Hahn, Harbrow, Ray

emergency: Everitt, Minson, Wight

In: Harbrow, Murphy, Ray, Williams
Out: McMahon, Power, Robbins, Wight

AFL Fantasy Watch:
The McMahon dropping will hurt more than a few fantasy coaches, he shouldn't be out too long but any player who does have multiple goals kicked on him by M Lappin should face some action by their coach. Maybe McMahon could just go to the fantasy bench this round, to save trades, but that will depend on who the defenders on the bench are. Williams replaces Wright, so that should mean he gets plenty of time on the field. Everitt is an emergency, that is interesting and next week he might be a player for fantasy teams.

Carlton v Port Adelaide

Carlton

FB: Houlihan, Saddington, Thornton
HB: Scotland, Bannister, Walker
C: Simpson, Blackwell, Gibbs
HF: Lappin, Fisher, Wiggins
FF: Murphy, Fevola, Whitnall
Foll: Ackland, Waite, Carrazzo

bench: Bentick, Koutoufides, O'hAilpin, Russell

emergency: Bower, Jackson, Young

In: Russell
Out: Anderson

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Kouta is helping fantasy teams, a bit of a surprise looking at how many minutes he plays but he can pack plenty of stats into his bursts from the bench. Russell doesn't get stats so don't sign him. Gibbs might be worth starting now.

Port Adelaide

FB: Pettigrew, Wakelin, Wilson
HB: Symes, Thurstans, Surjan
C: Cassisi, S.Burgoyne, Salopek
HF: Pearce, Tredrea, P.Burgoyne
FF: Lade, White, Ebert
Foll: Brogan, C.Cornes, K.Cornes

bench: Gray, Krakouer, Rodan, Westhoff

emergency: Boak, Deluca, Lonie

In: Brogan, Krakouer, Wilson
Out: Bentley, Deluca, Lonie

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Fantasy coaches will realize the significance of the bench the Power have named. All bargain players, at least to start the year, with three first-year players and also Rodan who had a very low price at the start due to his injury-riddled 2006. Teams have been targeting the Burgoynes, they both might break free for a big game here. Salopek took a shot last week, he got back up and should have a lot of possessions in this game.

Adelaide v Geelong

Adelaide

FB: Bassett, Rutten, Johncock
HB: Torney, Stevens, McLeod
C: Mattner, Shirley, Doughty
HF: Ricciuto, Bock, Thompson
FF: Porplyzia, McGregor, Welsh
Foll: Hudson, Goodwin, Edwards

bench from: Griffin, van Berlo, Knights, Vince, Douglas, Jericho, Massie

In: Douglas, Jericho, McGregor, Massie, Vince
Out: Perrie, Reilly

AFL Fantasy Watch:
McGregor is definitely in the team, that will make it easier to decide if you want to sign him instead of searching for the 22 final players tomorrow night before the deadline. It would have been better to sign Jericho, but not now with him on the extended bench.

Geelong

FB: Milburn, Scarlett, Enright
HB: Rooke, Egan, Mackie
C: Wojcinski, Bartel, Corey
HF: Chapman, Mooney, Varcoe
FF: S.Johnson, N.Ablett, Stokes
Foll: Ottens, G.Ablett, Ling

bench from: Blake, Tenace, Harley, Hunt, Selwood, Hawkins, Kelly

In: Hunt, Selwood, Hawkins

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Bartel is getting the most fantasy points, if you have a huge amount of spare cash then he makes sense to sign. Chapman was close to his best in his return last week, although he didn't kick a goal, he should be a very good player for the rest of the season.

St Kilda v Kangaroos

St Kilda

FB: Blake, Hudghton, Gwilt
HB: Attard, S.Fisher, Baker
C: Gilbert, Ball, Gram
HF: Montagna, Riewoldt, Fiora
FF: Milne, Gehrig, R.Clarke
Foll: Koschitzke, Hayes, Dal Santo

bench from: X.Clarke, Rix, Thompson, Voss, Watts, Jones, Howard

In: X.Clarke, Thompson, Voss, Watts, Jones, Howard
Out: Armitage, Birss, L.Fisher

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Their patience with Armitage didn't last long, a bit strange to use a first round pick on someone and then play them so little. He might help fantasy teams during the second half of the season. Watts is among the cheaper fantasy forwards, he played well in the VFL but there may not be a lot of playing time for him this game if he does play.

Kangaroos

FB: Archer, Firrito, Green
HB: Smith, Petrie, Brown
C: Pratt, Harris, Sinclair
HF: Thomas, Jones, Grant
FF: Harvey, Edwards, Simpson
Foll: McIntosh, Swallow, Rawlings

bench from: Lower, Watt, Campbell, Hale, Sansbury, Grima, Moran

In: Hale, Lower, Moran, Sansbury, Watt
Out: Gibson, McMahon

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Watt is the sensible choice for them to replace Gibson, Watt has not been bad for fantasy points but there are probably much better options for a fantasy defender. Watt could play on Watts.

Fremantle v Richmond

Fremantle

FB: Hayden, McPharlin, Thornton
HB: Black, Grover, Dodd
C: Peake, Hasleby, Mundy
HF: Headland, Pavlich, Solomon
FF: Bell, Tarrant, Johnson
Foll: Sandilands, M Carr, J Carr

bench from: Campbell, Cook, Ibbotson, McManus, Walker, Warnock, Webster

In: Campbell, Ibbotson, Walker, Warnock
Out: Crowley

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Ibbotson is a cheap player in fantasy leagues and he might be able to stay in the team with a big game here, if he does play.

Richmond

FB: King, Thursfield, Bowden
HB: Raines, Polak, Newman
C: White, Tuck, Howat
HF: Pettifer, Richardson, Edwards
FF: Tambling, Deledio, Jackson
Foll: Pattison, Johnson, Foley

bench from: Kingsley, Tivendale, Hughes, Polo, McGuane, Schulz, Hyde

In: Hughes, McGuane, Hyde

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Edwards is getting better every week, he doesn’t cost too much. Richardson is very affordable at the moment too.

Melbourne v Collingwood

Melbourne

FB: Ward, Carroll, Bruce
HB: Wheatley, Bizzell, Bell
C: Johnstone, McDonald, Davey
HF: Green, Robertson, Godfrey
FF: Sylvia, Neitz, Bate
Foll: White, McLean, Jones

bench From: P. Johnson, Petterd, Frawley, Brown, Holland, Yze, Buckley

In: Yze, Holland, Buckley

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Due to playing on the Monday, the final teams for this game will be named on Saturday, well past the fantasy league deadline. So there is some risk playing those named on the possible bench. White is at a good price. Neitz might also be a good signing, he is playing better and there is no Prestigiacomo to play against him here.

Collingwood

FB: Lockyer, Wakelin, Holland
HB: H.Shaw, O’Brien, R.Shaw
C: Pendlebury, Medhurst, Davis
HF: Maxwell, Cloke, Didak
FF: Swan, Rocca, Johnson
Followers: Fraser, O’Bree, Burns

bench From: Thomas, Goldsack, Toovey, Cox, Licuria, Stanley, Bryan

In: Wakelin, Licuria, Stanley, Cox, Bryan
Out: Prestigiacomo, Richards

AFL Fantasy Watch:
Rocca has rediscovered his accuracy in front of goal and might join a few more fantasy teams. Bryan probably replaces Richards in their lineup.

Do you really think Heath Shaw will play? or do you think he is likely to be a late exclusion?
2. June 8th 2007 @ 02:24. Sports Insider Says:
It looks like he will play, with the game on Monday it provides a few extra days for him to recover from last Friday.

Playing him in a fantasy team, and having one of the bench defenders as an emergency, might be the best move.

If H Shaw is going to miss then Cox is expected to take his spot.

Maybe there will be more news this evening about Shaw’s status, but right now everything points to him playing against the Demons.
