AFL Round 10 Preview
Collingwood v Fremantle
The Tip: Fremantle by 23 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Luke McPharlin
Chance For An Upset: Collingwood are the favourites here, the Dockers have a very good group of defenders and they will make it difficult for the Magpies to put up a big score. As the TV advertisements have pointed out, down the other end of the ground it will be Fremantle's accuracy in front of goal that might decide the game.
Collingwood
They win if....Prestigiacomo has a big game, whoever he plays on will try to run him around and take him out of his preferred spot at full back.
The Good News: It will be a fun night for the Magpies many fans, everyone will know when Tarrant has the ball in his hands.
The Bad News: While the talk is about Tarrant's kicking, both Cloke and Rocca are a bit inconsistent too.
Fremantle
They win if....they get some contributions from smaller forwards.
The Good News: Josh Carr has returned and it should be a game that suits him.
The Bad News: The Dockers are the most reported team in the AFL, this could be the type of game that adds a few more names to that list.
Melbourne v Adelaide
The Tip: Adelaide by 33 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Martin Mattner
Chance For An Upset: Melbourne have to get there soon, and this could be the game. But Adelaide are not only on a roll but they added Johncock last week and Ricciuto for this round too.
Melbourne
They win if....Davey gets all his possessions in the forward line.
The Good News: The Demons have most of their star midfielders back in the team.
The Bad News: It doesn't seem that Rivers will be playing soon.
Adelaide
They win if....Thompson does well against his old team.
The Good News: Every week the talk was "Ricciuto might play", this week that comes true.
The Bad News: The Jericho-holics won't be out in force as Jericho was the unlucky one who lost his spot in the team.
West Coast v Kangaroos
The Tip: West Coast by 18 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Brent Staker
Chance For An Upset: Half the West Coast team might have a cold, and the Kangaroos are hot at the moment, so it could be a close game. If Hansen isn't there then the Eagles' winning percentage takes a big hit, this game will be a big test for that theory.
West Coast
They win if....Cox and Seaby win the battle against a very good Hamish McIntosh.
The Good News: A spot opens up for Mitch Brown, he was good earlier in the season.
The Bad News: Two months without Hansen in the forward line is a long time.
Kangaroos
They win if....they find the right defender to play on Lynch, he might be too big for Firrito. Watt was an inclusion this round.
The Good News: They currently have their longest win streak this century.
The Bad News: They can't find the right spot for big Hale, and pace is their big need so they might not look to bring in any more talls unless someone gets hurt.
Richmond v Brisbane
The Tip: Brisbane by 30 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Simon Black
Chance For An Upset: A lot of people say this is where Richmond gets their first win, and a big game from Pattison and some goals from the courageous Richardson and it could happen.
Richmond
They win if....Kingsley deserves his spot, he needs to kick goals.
The Good News: Like Melbourne, the Tigers have shown they can get into a winning position towards the end of the games.
The Bad News: No Riewoldt, they are 0 and 9 but don't feel that they need to "play all the youngsters" yet. Bring back Jack.
Brisbane
They win if....someone like Johnson kicks a few goals or it might be Hooper, who is now back in the team.
The Good News: The Lions knew they needed another big forward target, they put Clark back in and it was a great move.
The Bad News: Last Thursday they also made 5 changes, things are becoming a bit unsettled there.
Sydney v Essendon
The Tip: Sydney by 55 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Ryan O'Keefe
Chance For An Upset: Camporeale is out, so that is a bonus for Essendon, but the addition of Bolton could nullify that move. Essendon will try their tactics on Hall that were used to stop Brown a few weeks ago, if they get that to work again then they will win.
Sydney
They win if....O'Loughlin continues his good form for Sydney home games.
The Good News: Kennelly and Davis are both in, so that adds a special player at both ends of the field.
The Bad News: They are not the tallest team in the back line, so if Lloyd and Lucas, and maybe Ryder too, get a lot of the ball it will be tough for the Swans. Maybe Richards will have a big game.
Essendon
They win if....they win the battle of the ruck, with Hille and Laycock going against the top tandem in the AFL at this time, Jolly and Everitt.
The Good News: Essendon might have the better McVeigh.
The Bad News: If they just barely got over the line against Richmond, the result against a Sydney team who is playing their best football of the year might not be good.
Port Adelaide v Hawthorn
The Tip: Port Adelaide by 20 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Shaun Burgoyne
Chance For An Upset: Hawthorn are playing better at the moment and they come off a win against the league's top team. A few more goals from Franklin and a competitive effort by their two ruckmen and anything could happen.
Port Adelaide
They win if....Lade dominates again, he has been a bit down in stats in recent games.
The Good News: Salopek missed a couple of games with an injury but he is back to his best now.
The Bad News: They were getting huge games from at least one Burgoyne, but last week they were both contained by Geelong, the Power can't let that happen again.
Hawthorn
They win if....they can figure out a way to stop the Cornes brothers.
The Good News: They beat West Coast, so they can beat anyone.
The Bad News: Their coach has not been concentrating on this game.
Carlton v Western Bulldogs
The Tip: Western Bulldogs by 99 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Adam Cooney
Chance For An Upset: The Bulldogs have been defeated by some of the better teams in the AFL, like Sydney and Adelaide, so it is unlikely that they drop a game against the Carlton side which isn't in the best form.
Carlton
They win if....they overload their forward line with height and supply them with a lot of the ball, they have the first part of this tactic achieved, the tough part will be getting Fevola, Whitnall, Fisher, Kennedy and others the ball.
The Good News: They are kicking goals, so even though they are losing at least they are doing it in style and with some excitement.
The Bad News: Their possible ins include Bannister and Wiggins, they are not really looking to play youth at the moment.
Western Bulldogs
They win if....they do everything the opposite of what they did last week.
The Good News: McMahon and Griffen are back and they were certainly missed against the Swans.
The Bad News: Their forward line is still too short, they do need to try something there, it's a pity they can't put Podsiadly into the team.
St Kilda v Geelong
The Tip: St Kilda by 29 points
Best-On-Ground Guess: Nick Riewoldt
Chance For An Upset: The Saints winning would be a huge effort, but they have the tall forwards who can do it if they are on. Gehrig is due for a big game.
St Kilda
They win if....Gram has a big influence and finds plenty of space to run the ball through the middle and then deliver it to a big forward.
The Good News: Gilbert has really exploded in the past few games, he is a very skilful and versatile player.
The Bad News: No Robert Harvey.
Geelong
They win if....they keep playing the way they have been.
The Good News: Chapman is named, he makes them even better.
The Bad News: There isn't a lot of bad news, although contract talk could start to distract some people there soon.
