AFL Player Of The Week: Round 2

Andrew McLeod of the Adelaide Crows.

The Crows were in trouble, injuries had robbed them of most of their offensive power and they were coming off a loss to the Bombers. The Bulldogs were the big favourites, even before Burton was ruled out of the round 2 team. The Crows also lost Graham Johncock and Robert Shirley during the game but many Crows stood up. There was one player who is not adverse to dominating on the MCG and he was the best of all the Adelaide players, and also the AFL Player Of The Week, Andrew McLeod.

He had around 10 possessions in each of the first three quarters, finishing the game with 35. He stopped many attacks by the Bulldogs and also got up the other end and setup a couple of his teammates for goals. McLeod ran into space and collected 9 marks, but he also won the contested ball too. McLeod had a win, 20 kicks, 15 handballs and was the round 2 AFL Player Of The Week. His reward for all this, a showdown with the Port Adelaide Power next weekend.
