AFL Mock Draft 2007 - Pick 20, West Coast

20. West Coast - Tony Notte
Tall Forward. 194cm, 70kg. Swan Districts

Possible comparison: Luke McPharlin brings a similar type of game, but Notte would keep his high-marking in the forward line, unlike McPharlin who plays at both ends of the ground.

Why: Assuming they go with a midfield type of player at pick 3, the Eagles can then also add a midfielder at pick 20 or 22 and use the other of those picks on a player with a big upside. Notte might need a few years to add bulk and then he may be their full forward.

Worth a reach: Marlon Motlop, he could fill the role there of a small, crumbing forward.

Hope they slide: Jack Grimes, the Eagles might be able to leave draft day with several star Victorian onballers added to their list.

Selected at pick 20 in the 2006 AFL draft:
Tom Hislop (Essendon, midfielder/small defender)

Ok what if west coast get Cotchin Rioli and Grimes for the first three picks (thats what im hoping for) and the forth pick will probably be a ruckman what is the best ruckman available at that time. and if we get those players could we get back to the top side behind geelong

Cotchin, Rioli and Grimes is a possible return from their first three picks, and they would all be a chance of playing in 2008.

Bellchambers could be there at 22, there are other options for the Eagles to also consider. Dawson Simpson is a few years away but he would be a huge ruckman that the Eagles would have to battle Sandilands and Warnock. If they want an athlete in the ruck, then Smouha could be someone they consider. Will Sullivan should become a solid ruckman and might be someone they look at too.

Even with a huge draft, it will be up to players like Rosa, Priddis, Butler, Hurn and Nicoski to stay healthy and step up their games for the Eagles to get to the 2008 AFL Grand Final.
