AFL Insider Power Rankings: August 13 2007

1: Geelong Cats 16-3 win-loss record (1 in last AFL Power Rankings)
If you add up the percentage for the AFL and VFL Cats it is over 300. So they don't have a lot to complain about, although their ruck controversy could cause some trouble.

2: West Coast Eagles 12-7 (2)
They will expect to finish off the regular season with three more wins. Judd is not at his best and Embley will miss with a hamstring so that will need to be addressed.

3: Hawthorn Hawks 12-7 (3)
Hawthorn finish the regular season with three games in three different states. If they win them all they finish in second spot.

4: Sydney Swans 11-8 (5)
If Hall was closer to his best they would be unstoppable, they might give him a rest so Hall is much better for September.

5: Port Adelaide Power 12-7 (4)
They function a lot better when Tredrea is out there, he might be there when the Power travel to Tasmania to play Hawthorn. Brogan is another player who could return.

6: Collingwood Magpies 11-8 (6)
The Magpies need a bit of help to get things going again, and help is what they will get with Buckley, Rusling and other players returning soon.

7: Kangaroos 12-7 (7)
Not the week for the coach to be asking for a contract extension. After losing to the Eagles the Kangaroos now face Geelong, but it is a team they defeated earlier in the season.

8: Brisbane Lions 9-9-1 (9)
Right now there is a team way ahead of everyone at the top, then a group competing for spots 2 to 7, Brisbane are in the next group of six teams that have a chance to sneak into the last spot in the 8. They have two games in Brisbane to come, and a game in Adelaide, so that sounds good. Their opponents are the Swans, Crows and Cats so that sounds bad. The Lions have a huge percentage advantage over the Saints, and the Cats might be resting a few players in round 22, it could be the Lions who get the last spot in the finals.

9: Fremantle Dockers 9-10 (13)
They were gone, but three wins out of the last four has changed everything.

10: St Kilda Saints 9-9-1 (10)
The Saints play an early final against the Dockers next round.

11: Western Bulldogs 9-9-1 (8)
Nobody is really sure what went wrong this season, there have been some injuries but the way they are playing is also a problem. They don't have enough talls so often they kick backwards, and it is hard to win with that strategy.

12: Essendon Bombers 9-10 (11)
Two possible wins in the next couple of rounds, they then go West to play the Eagles. Their very poor percentage might cost them a spot in the finals.

13: Adelaide Crows 9-10 (12)
Thirteen teams are still a chance to play in the finals, and the Crows do have a couple of home games now, so they are still in it. Injuries have taken away many of their stars, although their next opponent is the Bulldogs and they are also missing several important players.

14: Carlton Blues 4-15 (14)
They might be able to win at least one of their next three games, Essendon is coming back from WA this week and Carlton have the ability to lift against them. Whitnall could also return after playing a couple of good games in the VFL.

15: Melbourne Demons 4-15 (15)
They have already defeated Collingwood this season and will be confident after taking care of the Bulldogs.

16: Richmond Tigers 2-16-1 (16)
All the teams down the bottom of the ladder have started to play better. The win was obviously good news for Richmond, and their draft position could improve soon too. If Carlton and Melbourne both get another win, some priority picks will disappear, which will move Richmond up in the draft.
