AFL Fantasy Players Playing Better Than Expected
The following players have started the season off very well. They are bringing in fantasy points at a much higher rate than their initial fantasy prices would have suggested. Fantasy coaches will now have to decide if these players will be able to continue putting up big numbers.
Scott Lucas - He was their main target last season with Lloyd out, and surprisingly they have kept going to him with Lloyd back in the team. If he keeps getting the stats that he has in the first couple of rounds then he will end the season as the best tall forward for fantasy points.
David Rodan - Fantasy steal of the year so far.
Adam McPhee - The addition of Michael was supposed to free McPhee and so far it has.
Nathan Ablett - When the Cats play Hawkins that makes N Ablett a veteran of their forward line. In the opening games N Ablett has been playing like a player with much more experience.
Jared Brennan - The Lions finally found the right position for him on the field, is getting a huge amount of the ball as he is free to run around at centre half back.
Sam Power - Becoming an important member of their team, underpriced in fantasy games.
David Wojcinski - Injuries have been the only thing holding him back in past years, he is fit and sprinting now and should be a good player for fantasy teams.
Chris Knights - Looks set to have a very good year.
Graham Polak - The Tigers need him in the ruck, the back line and at centre half forward. He should have a good year for stats.
Lindsay Gilbee - A lot is expected of him in fantasy leagues and he has exceeded that so far. No reason to think he will slow down.
Simon Black - Better for stats than in many of his other years, so he is playing at a very high level.
Daniel Cross - Always gets a lot of the ball, doing a bit more in 2007.
Brett Kirk - Having a big year for stats.
Heath Shaw - Playing very well.
Tadgh Kennelly - A great player for the Swans and very consistent for fantasy points.
Jed Adcock - One of many Brisbane players who are underrated for fantasy numbers.
Daniel Kerr - Will still have high stats but they won't continue at the current rate, teams will be paying extra attention to him. Will still be very good value at his fantasy price.
Brent Harvey - Is always good for goals or possessions, in the first couple of rounds he has had plenty of each.
Danny Jacobs - His numbers are slightly inflated by the crazy game the Hawks played in Brisbane.
Michael Rischitelli - Moving into the top group of midfielders.
Nick Malceski - Joining in with Kennelly in running the ball out of the back line.
Paul Hasleby - Is only ever slowed by injuries, is healthy and is a prolific player for fantasy points.
Brent Stanton - The leader in the middle for the Bombers now.
Jordan Lewis - The Hawks added Crawford and Brown for round 2, it didn't affect Lewis' numbers.
Steven Salopek - He is for real.
Nathan Bock - He is the answer to the Crows big forward problem.
Peter Everitt - Started a bit slow against the Eagles, he is now used to his new team and could be joining a few more fantasy teams.
Greg Tivendale - The Tigers have been getting very good production from Tivendale.
Clinton Young - Could be the "Symes fantasy player" of 2007, an unexpected player who just keeps getting fantasy points.
Andrew Walker - A lot of the ball is down his end and he, Scotland and Gibbs could benefit from that for fantasy points.
Mark McVeigh - Inconsistent in the past, playing better now.
Aaron Fiora - He has been St Kilda's best player over the first 2 rounds.
Luke McPharlin - More stats than is expected of most big defenders. Could continue for a couple more weeks until Johnson returns.
Tim Notting - Nothing wrong with his shoulder.
Rowan Jones - A quiet player at the Eagles who doesn't have the profile of many of his teammates. But he is also quietly getting a lot of the ball too.
Jason Winderlich - Seems to have taken not only Hird's hairstyle but his stats too.
Scott Stevens - Is used in a number of spots by the Crows, has been good for stats down both ends of the ground.
Trent Croad - Got a lot of fantasy points as a defender, also showed he can still contribute as a forward.
Bryce Gibbs - Those who decided to start him in their fantasy teams are getting the benefits, and they should be able to continue playing him.
Matt Rosa - Was expected to have a bigger role this year, and he does.
Cameron Mooney - He's kicking goals, not hitting players, and he can be used in a fantasy ruck spot.
Brad Sewell - An integral part of their midfield group, getting plenty of the ball.
Nathan Van Berlo - Has graduated from a stopping role and is getting more of the ball now.
Darren Gaspar - An unexpected addition to this list, maybe he can keep getting stats or he might have just been lucky for the first couple of rounds. He did benefit from playing against some of Carlton's forwards who were not playing well in round 1, then in round 2 he was able to keep up with Hall who had ankle and knee problems.
Darren Jolly - May not stay up in the stats for much longer, unless Hall or Everitt aren't playing.
Mark Seaby - He did a lot with Dean Cox out, now he probably goes back into his usual backup role.
Brett Ebert - A decrease in numbers is expected when Tredrea returns, but maybe not a big decrease.
Scott Lucas - He was their main target last season with Lloyd out, and surprisingly they have kept going to him with Lloyd back in the team. If he keeps getting the stats that he has in the first couple of rounds then he will end the season as the best tall forward for fantasy points.
