AFL Fantasy Player Notes – Nathan Thompson Ready To Play
The Kangaroos were successful last season with Nathan Thompson out of the lineup, he is now back and will either add an extra weapon up forward for the Kangaroos or possibly cause his coach a few problems if he thinks there is enough space up forward for Thompson, Jones, Edwards and Hale.

AFL Fantasy Impact:
Like all older players returning from a year out of the game, it is a risk in signing him for fantasy teams. He wasn’t the most mobile player before his injury, so his projected stats for season 2008 might be a bit lower than what he brought in a couple of years ago.
Not only will fantasy coaches have to decide if Thompson is worth having on their team, but the rest of the forwards at the Kangaroos will be affected by Thompson’s return. Hale probably won’t fit alongside Thompson in the forward 50. Edwards didn’t really do as well as expected last season, after joining the Kangaroos after his 100 goals in the VFL, and Thompson may not be sharing the goal-square with him too often. Corey Jones should still be an effective player, as he can go for a run up the ground as well as marking the ball up forward.

Speaking at the Kangaroos’ Telstra AFL Community Camp in Bairnsdale, Bewick said Thompson would make his return against the Western Bulldogs next Friday after a 12-month layoff with a knee injury.
“He just wants to play a game of footy and I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t playing up in Darwin.”
