AFL Fantasy Player Notes – Morton and McMahon Impressing Richmond
Richmond are hoping for a big improvement in 2008, their young stars will keep getting better and they are expecting big seasons from players they traded for.
From the Herald Sun: Tigers to unveil McMahon
AFL Fantasy Impact:
Both Morton and McMahon have the potential to help fantasy teams, but they have to find a spot in the side to do that. McMahon would seem to be a favourite of Richmond’s coach so he might grab a spot in the back line. As the Richmond back line has produced a number of good fantasy players recently, including King and Newman, if McMahon does play a lot of minutes he will be high in stats.
Morton goes from a great team to one down the other end of the ladder, so there have to be more opportunities for him to play. As with plenty of other players in the AFL, the preseason games might give Morton the chance to win a regular spot on his team and fantasy teams.
From the Herald Sun: Tigers to unveil McMahon
McMahon and Mitch Morton - a highly rated trade from West Coast - were both exceptional in the club's intra-club match on Friday.
Richmond is in an excellent position on the injury front, with only No. 2 draft pick Trent Cotchin out long-term.

Thank you for your question, there are plenty of reasons to have Cotchin on a fantasy AFL team.
It is a long season and he should be available for most of their games. His skills are ahead of most Richmond players already, so when he does play it should be impressive. An accurate kick on both feet, very quick and able to play taller than his listed height, he should bring in fantasy points for possessions and marks.
His starting price in fantasy leagues should make him a bargain too. So after he plays 4 or 5 games his fantasy price could triple.
Joel Selwood was close to 20 possessions a game, Cotchin should be able to get close to those numbers in 2008. Boak from last year is closer to Cotchin in body shape, he averaged over 15 possessions a game, so Cotchin should be able to exceed those numbers as he joins a team in Richmond that needs to play their youth.
K Johnson and G Tivendale averaged around 20 possessions a game last year, they could be two players who have a decline in stats and playing time as Cotchin and the new generation of Tigers start to take over the Richmond midfield.
