AFL Fantasy Player Notes - Cale Morton Ready To Star

The Eagles decided the Morton family wasn't needed, trading Mitch and deciding not to draft Cale. It seems that Cale Morton could have a big first year of AFL with Melbourne if they continue to play him where they did in their intra-club match.

From the Melbourne site: Young Dees stake their claim

Morton, the Demons' first round selection in last year's AFL National Draft, collected plenty of possessions on the wing and across half-back, while Valenti won his share of clearances in the middle and used the ball with precision.

"[The quality was] probably okay, overall. Our skills were down a bit and there was a little bit of fumbling, but there was still plenty of good passages," he said. "We moved ahead today in preparation for next week. There are a few younger guys that did well, Wonaeamirri, [Isaac] Weetra, [John] Meesen did well around the ground, and [Kyle] Cheney did some nice things.

AFL Fantasy Impact:

Cale Morton will be on many benches as a fantasy defender. That will probably be a wise investment, with the potential for plenty of stats and a large and rapid price rise.

Meesen gets another mention and he must be on his way to a spot in their round 1 team. He would not be a bad choice as a 4th ruckman on a fantasy roster. He could be one injury or suspension away from playing big minutes if White or one of their tall forwards miss some games during the season.
