AFL Fantasy News: West Is Best, Franklin Is Good Too

The Hawks have Lance Franklin and he nearly won the game with 6 goals, the Bulldogs had more players kicking goals and they were also more accurate. West and Cross combined for 45 handballs, an impressive stat.

Fantasy Player News

Western Bulldogs
West: 41 possessions, a good pick for a fantasy team captain.
Darcy: 2 goals, but also 4 behinds, so with some accuracy he will bring in fantasy points.

Gilbee: 22 kicks and 9 marks.
Murphy: 3 goals and 15 possessions, looks safe to play him in fantasy teams now.

Hawthorn
Roughead: 2 goals, was a more important player for them with Williams out.
Franklin: 6 goals, but fewer possessions than in his other games.
Crawford: 29 possessions and 6 marks.
Ladson: 30 possessions, a player to sign if he keeps that up.

Geelong only played the second half, and they did make it interesting late in the game. The Kangaroos played a physical and smart game from the first bounce. The Simpson was huge with over 40 possessions, and he had plenty of help from Wells, McIntosh, Harvey, Harris and Sinclair.

Fantasy Player News

Kangaroos
Simpson: 25 kicks, 16 handballs, 5 marks, 3 tackles and a goal.
Swallow: 20 possessions, a player to think about signing for fantasy teams.
Wells: It looks like he will be consistently good, which is what fantasy teams need.
Harris: 23 possessions, only 6 kicks but lots of handballs.

Geelong
Selwood: Won the contested ball, and if he didn't he put on one of his 9 tackles. Could be worth starting if he keeps getting over 20 possessions.
Chapman: Back to his normal big stats, 4 free kicks for and a goal were added to 32 possessions.
Mooney: The only one of their big forwards to regain some form, kicked 3 goals.
Ling: Fantasy points with 3 goals, 5 free kicks for and 25 possessions.

The game was only decided in the final minute of play, the Crows kicked one more goal but the Dockers had 7 more behinds. McManus had 20 possessions in his milestone game, Johnson had 13 in his first game of the season and Dean Solomon had 12 tackles.

Fremantle
Hayden: 20 possessions, is playing an important role in their back line and might help fantasy teams.
Johnson: Had a good second half, when he began running more. Had 7 tackles and will be a very useful fantasy defender.
Tarrant: Only 1 goal, but had 13 kicks. Not a big fantasy star with his new team at the moment.
Solomon: A surprise as he has been good for fantasy points, 12 tackles provided some extra points.

Adelaide
Thompson: 29 possessions, 9 marks and also kicked a goal.
Stevens: Bock has cooled off, Perrie isn't that great too, Stevens continues to play well with 3 goals.
Knights: 27 possessions, his fantasy points would have been higher but he gave away 3 free kicks.
