AFL Fantasy News: Saturday Knights Fever For The Crows

Aisake O'hAilpin started in the ruck for the Northern Bullants and Setanta O'hailpin was also a starting ruckman on Saturday, as Carlton went with him in the middle against Fraser. The big Setanta brought energy and enthusiasm but is more suited to full back. Collingwood didn't have ruck dominance but they were ahead in the scoring shots, their inaccuracy allowed Carlton to lead in the first half. In the second half Rocca caught fire, when he is kicking goals from 60m the Magpies win.

Fantasy Player News

Collingwood
Swan: 20 kicks, a big fantasy game and Swan is a player to sign for fantasy teams.
Cloke: Might be a good fantasy forward this season, he had 11 marks and after a few warm-up kicks, for 4 behinds, he did kick 3 goals.
O'Bree: 9 tackles and 19 possessions, can be inconsistent for fantasy stats but was great here.
Pendlebury: Is now a star for fantasy points, another big game with 24 possessions and 5 tackles.
Holland: Started slowly, he finished the game with 14 possessions.

Carlton
Carrazzo: A big game for fantasy points, 34 possessions.
Bentick: 20 possessions and 5 tackles, he adds needed strength to the midfield.
Murphy: 22 possessions, he started on the bench again but had a big impact in the first quarter.
O'hAilpin: A different role, most of his time was in the ruck. 13 possessions and 11 total hitouts.
Koutoufides: Might be on the bring-him-back-slowly program, often on the bench and only had 6 possessions.

The Power didn't double the Tigers' score, but as expected they had double the hitouts. Lade, with 12 hitouts, let Brogan feast on the Tigers in the centre while he went forward and kicked 3 goals. Rodan kicked a couple of goals against his former team.

Port Adelaide
White: Putting together some big fantasy games, he had 13 marks and 21 possessions. He kicked 2 goals, 4 behinds.
Pearce: 19 possessions and 2 goals, teams are trying to stop S Burgoyne but that lets others like Pearce go free.
Rodan: 13 possessions, 3 tackles and 2 goals.
K Cornes: Nothing wrong after getting super-crunched last week, 27 possessions and 9 marks.
Cassisi: 23 possessions, 5 tackles and 4 free kicks received.

Richmond
Polo: Fantasy star last year, time to sign again as his hair is now fixed and he had 23 possessions.
King: May not keep his spot in the team long-term, but is getting the ball now and he had 21 possessions.
Deledio: He might have been played in nearly every position, big game with 22 possessions, 17 marks and 2 goals.
Tivendale: In danger of getting Gasparized there, hard to kick him out after 20 kicks and 9 marks.
Howat: 24 possessions, 8 marks and 5 tackles as he tries to win a regular place in the team.

The Crows weren't supposed to win and they again started slowly, halfway through the first quarter they started to kick goals and continued this for the rest of the match as they got to 100 points. It was a balanced scoring attack that produced their best offensive output since they played the Bulldogs, with Welsh and Thompson each scoring 3 goals. The Crows might have R & R next week, they host Richmond and could have Ricciuto back.

Fantasy Player News

Adelaide
Knights: Another big game, 29 possessions, one of the biggest surprises among the top fantasy midfielders this season.
Thompson: Goals and possessions are great for fantasy numbers, he added 22 possessions to his 3 goals.
Jericho: A chance to stay in the team after 8 marks and 15 possessions.
Edwards: Celebrated his milestone game with a goal, 10 marks and 33 disposals.
Welsh: 3 goals, 8 marks and 9 kicks.

Brisbane
Adcock: An elite fantasy defender, 30 possessions and also received 5 free kicks.
Notting: 17 kicks, 7 marks and 2 goals.
Lappin: Price will go up now but is still at the bargain level to sign, he had 18 possessions.
Brennan: Can be frustrating for fantasy coaches, and his AFL coach, but was good here with 15 kicks and 7 marks.
Black: Got the ball as usual, 22 possessions, fantasy points were boosted by 10 tackles.

The Swans are missing more than Kennelly, compared to 2005 and 2006 they seem much slower and their foot skills are not as good. For the second week in a row the Swans struggled under the roof, next round they do play a home game but it is against the Power. In this game the Saints were accurate in front of goal, tackled hard and marked strongly. The Saints might have lost another defender as Goddard could have a serious knee injury.

Fantasy Player News

St Kilda
S Fisher: Not a bad return to action, 19 kicks and 14 marks.
Gwilt: Taking on the big forwards now, and also gets the ball, he had 17 possessions and 9 marks.
Koschitzke: Played a lot in the ruck, sometimes stationed at half back, it was good for his stats and he had 18 disposals.
Gehrig: Kicked 4 goals and had 7 marks, was in the usual Gehrig mood but didn't lose fantasy points by giving away free kicks.
Birss: Into the team with Baker out, Birss had 14 possessions and received 4 free kicks.

Sydney
Barry: Hurt his arm late in the game, he still had 19 possessions.
Davis: Playing better, 17 possessions and 2 goals.
O'Keefe: One of Sydney's best for fantasy points, he kicked 2 goals and also had 22 possessions and 8 marks.
Goodes: Not near his best and has hurt fantasy teams who signed him early, he had 17 possessions and kicked a goal.
Hall: 3 goals and 9 marks. Umpires awarded 3 free kicks against him, but a couple of them were unwarranted.
