AFL Fantasy News: Port Powers Past Previous Premiers

It might have been a September preview on the MCG, although the teams in a couple of months will probably be a bit different, especially Collingwood's. The Magpies did have a big forward kick a bunch of goals, Cloke, while Geelong relied on a team effort as Mooney only had 1 goal and Hawkins only kicked a point.

Cats 80 - Magpies 64

Fantasy Player News

Geelong
Selwood: 23 possessions, 7 marks, 6 tackles and a goal as he is now a very big part of their midfield.

Enright: While Bartel slows down a bit, Enright increases his production, he had 22 possessions.
Harley: Is now a reliable player for fantasy points, he had 17 possessions and 6 marks.
Chapman: 23 possessions, 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal.
Scarlett: He went running and his 20 kicks were good for a lot of fantasy points.

Collingwood
Cloke: Kicked accurately for his 4 goals, also had 10 marks.
Wakelin: 18 possessions and 9 marks, getting fantasy points with Clement out.
Pendlebury: 20 possessions, 8 marks and 5 tackles.
Clarke: 18 possessions as he again gets a lot of fantasy points.
Lockyer: 23 kicks, and most of them hit their target, and he also had 11 marks.

Port Adelaide put on a show, as they demolished the Eagles. Rodan and Pearce were seeing how many players they could race past, Lonie and Tredrea were competing to kick the longest goal while Chad Cornes was showing everyone that a goal can be kicked from any angle on the wrong foot.

Rodan: 20 possessions and 3 tackles, the fantasy bargain of the year keeps getting it done.
C Cornes: 4 goals along with 31 possessions, another big game.
Boak: 21 possessions and 8 marks, his best game for fantasy points and his price will rise now.
Thomson: Fantasy points boosted by a couple of goals, he also had 12 handballs and 6 tackles.

West Coast
Morton: 16 possessions, 5 marks and 3 tackles, Morton might keep his spot for a few more games.
R Jones: 25 possessions as he increased his fantasy points output with several Eagles out.
Lynch: 3 goals, Lynch also joined in the contest to kick the longest goal.
MacKenzie: Good potential but struggled with Port playing so well, he had 12 possessions.
McKinley: Kicked a goal but unlikely to help fantasy teams as he won't play many games.

Jonathan Brown had all the space that he wanted in the forward line and he took advantage of it with plenty of marks and lots of goals. The only time someone got in his way on the lead was when Charman come in from the side, accidentally spoiling Brown. Bruce didn't play, he should be there next week.

Lions 126 - Demons 82

Fantasy Player News

Brisbane
Brown: Most of his stats were in the first quarter when he won the game, he finished with 6 goals and 13 marks.
Leuenberger: An exciting prospect, he kicked a goal and if he does increase his playing time he might be signed by fantasy teams.
Drummond: 20 kicks, as he usually does, and he is one of the best fantasy defenders in the AFL.
Brennan: 12 kicks, 2 goals and 4 free kicks received, he is again an interesting player for fantasy teams.
Copeland: Still in the forward line, he kicked 3 goals.

Melbourne
Brown: 29 disposals, he always helps fantasy teams.
Buckley: 7 possessions in his first game, no need to sign him for fantasy teams yet but is a player to watch.
Davey: Kicked 4 goals but may be in trouble on Monday.
Frawley: He played all the game, in a back line that was in trouble, and had 8 possessions and 5 marks.
C Johnson: 16 possessions and 8 marks, he has the potential for a lot of fantasy points and they should keep playing him as they look to rebuild.

West and Grant didn't play so both teams went in without many of their big stars. The Bulldogs had more players step up as Cooney, Williams, Ray and others took on more responsibility. Essendon were in the game but they couldn't keep going in the last quarter.

Bulldogs 131 - Bombers 98

Western Bulldogs
Cooney: A huge game, especially in the second half, for fantasy points and he had 31 possessions and kicked 3 goals.

Essendon
Lucas: 4 goals from Lucas, he has been one of the better tall forwards in fantasy this season.
Watson: 27 possessions and 8 tackles as he continues to get a lot of the ball.
Lovett-Murray: Not the big game for fantasy points that was expected, 12 possessions, but should do better next week.
Hislop: Should keep his spot in the team, he had 10 disposals and 3 tackles.
Michael: There were times when he didn't have the right opponent, as the Bulldogs go small up forward, so Michael played down the other end and kicked a goal.
