AFL Fantasy News: Lucas Is Still Kicking Goals and So Is Brad Johnson
The Bombers had a lot of contributors in their win, from new Leroy Jetta to a healthy Matthew Lloyd. There was one player the Crows could not stop and that was Scott Lucas. He was good last year when he had the forward line all to himself, and Sheedy made sure it wasn't too crowded this season as only Lloyd shared the forward space with Lucas. Johns didn't play, Hird played further up the ground and even though Ryder was named as a forward he spent most of his time as a defender which was a surprise move from Sheedy, but also a successful one.

Essendon
Lucas: 7 goals, is also a chance for a big round 2 as he could again have a smaller defender on him.
Lloyd: Only 2 goals but a good fantasy points game, had 8 disposals in the last quarter.
Stanton: He just accumulates possessions and his 25 in this game brought in fantasy points.
Winderlich: He wasn't just a cheap fantasy player but also an effective one, 19 possessions and 12 marks.
Ryder: A forward/ruckman but played in the back line and it worked, possibly his best fantasy points game.
Michael: It was a solid fantasy return for a full back.
McPhee: He did play a more attacking game which made him a better fantasy player, worth signing as it should continue.
Adelaide
Bock: The Crows' only useful big forward for fantasy points, Welsh and Perrie had poor games.
Knights: A cheap fantasy midfielder to sign, had 20 disposals and should be a regular player this season for Adelaide.
Thompson: Got the ball and kicked goals, led the Crows in kicks and total possessions.
Goodwin: Went off injured very early in the game.
The Cats could have played a quick defender on Johnson, and Johnson would have won in the aerial contests. Geelong could have gone with a bigger player and Johnson would have run them around the ground. There was no stopping Brad Johnson as his career-game overshadowed the return of Darcy and the introduction of Jason Akermanis.

Western Bulldogs
Minson: If they don't play Street then sign him up, had 14 disposals and was in the action a lot.
Johnson: The new additions to the team could have taken stats off him, it didn't happen as he kicked 8 goals and still found time for a few runs in the middle which upped his possessions total to 24 for the game.
West: A bit quieter as he had 6 kicks, also added 23 handballs. Will have more kicks next time and more fantasy points.
Gilbee: Will be one of the best fantasy backmen, had 22 kicks here.
Akermanis: Not a big game but will get better for fantasy points.
Darcy: 4 marks and 8 kicks, he will improve with more games.
Geelong
Wojcinski: Started the game very well, quiet in the second half but is a player to sign.
N Ablett: It was a gamble to play him in fantasy games but for round 1 he was definitely worth it. 3 goals.
Mooney: He had a solid game for fantasy points and should be a good player to have in your ruck for the fantasy season.
Chapman: Didn't play NAB Cup but it didn't matter as he was worth the high fantasy price as he led Geelong in kicks.
Including the NAB Cup, Carlton have 5 wins now and they all been against teams in the bottom 8 from 2006. This game was similar to the Carlton-Kangaroos NAB Cup game as Richmond seemed to have it won before Carlton turned it around in the second half.
