The Swans started very well and had the game under control at half time. Sydney had 9 more hitouts than Port Adelaide did, as the ruck battle was always going to be important this had a big say in which team won. Collingwood looked like it had done enough to get the win, but he Bulldogs ran past them in the second half. The Bulldogs again won with a small forward structure, Higgins kicked 4, Cooney kicked 4 and Akermanis produced again with a couple of goals.

The Eagles won, the real contest might have been Q versus the Demons. Lynch had 12 scoring shots and Melbourne had 15. Kerr was reported early in the game.
