AFL Fantasy News: Hasleby and Pavlich Dominate, So Does Every Eagle

None of the big forwards for Geelong could kick a goal. It was a donut in the goals stat for Mooney, N Ablett and Hawkins. The highlight of the game had to be Simon Taylor, that is probably not going to be a phrase repeated very often. Big Taylor picked up the ball near the 50m line and decided to just kick it as hard as he could, it went through for an unexpected goal and the Hawks needed it as the final margin was 4 points. Both Taylor and Campbell also took strong marks in the back line that helped Hawthorn secure the win.

Fantasy Player News

Hawthorn

Birchall: 23 possessions as he had home ground advantage.
Guerra: A big game for fantasy points, 19 kicks and 8 marks.
Franklin: Fantasy teams were helped by his kicks and tackles, but a tad inaccurate shooting for goal.
Hodge: 19 kicks, he is playing better for fantasy stats over the past couple of games.
Ellis: His best game so far, and was important in the 4th quarter, a good emergency defender for fantasy teams.
Lewis: 26 possessions and 10 marks, opposition teams ignore him but fantasy teams might consider signing him.

Geelong

Bartel: Big numbers with 31 possessions, 6 tackles and 3 free kicks for and 0 against.
Enright: 20 kicks for Enright.
Milburn: Inconsistent for Geelong but great for fantasy teams, had 17 first half possessions.
Ling: Had another stopping role but still managed 22 possessions.

The Dockers didn't have it easy as they recorded their first win of the season. It was a tight contest in the first quarter as Melbourne had more scoring shots than Fremantle. The big stars for the Dockers then took control and it was all over, except for an exceptional goal by Yze.

Dockers 137 - Demons 92

Fantasy Player News

Fremantle

Pavlich: 6 goals and 12 marks, Pavlich has some big games on the MCG.
Hasleby: 21 kicks and 8 marks against an undermanned Demons' midfield.
Sandilands: A lot of hitouts which was expected, a bonus for fantasy numbers with 2 goals.
Headland: 29 possessions and 3 goals.
Webster: Never a regular, that could change after 3 goals.
Crowley: 14 kicks and 8 handballs.
Hayden: 22 possessions as he increased his fantasy points output compared to previous games.

Melbourne

Yze: 25 kicks, and a spectacular goal, he might be getting signed to a few more fantasy AFL teams.
Dunn: A good effort for his first game of the season, kicked 3 goals.
Miller: Hasn't been a fantasy superstar with Neitz and Robertson out, but is solid for stats, also kicked 3 goals.
White: 22 possessions is a good game for a fantasy ruckman.
McDonald: Old McDonald had a big game, including 17 first half possessions.
Bruce: 9 tackles provided some bonus fantasy points as he didn't kick a goal in this game.
Davey: 2 goals and 17 kicks, he is back for AFL fantasy teams looking for a forward.

The Eagles had a big win, and nearly all their players had huge games for fantasy points. Wirrpanda kicked the goals, Lynch collected the possessions, so that was something different. Judd was the same as always, very good.

Eagles 100 - Blues 39

Fantasy Player News

West Coast

Judd: 35 possessions, his price in AFL fantasy leagues just went up, as did his 2008 contract.
Priddis: 25 possessions as he cements a spot in their lineup.
Cox: He is back to his best. Hitouts, possessions and also kicked a goal.
B Jones: 30 possessions.
R Jones: 22 possessions and 5 tackles.
Staker: 22 disposals as he continues to play well.
Armstrong: 26 possessions and he might be an underrated fantasy player this season.
Lynch: Didn't kick a goal, still contributed for fantasy teams with 19 possessions and 8 big marks.

Carlton

Whitnall: A good game with 12 marks and 13 kicks.
Bentick: 17 possessions and 4 tackles, didn't have a bigger role with Stevens out.
Scotland: A little bit down on his usual fantasy average, although that's because the other team had the ball.
Walker: 14 possessions and 7 tackles.

* Remember that it is a short week for adjusting AFL fantasy teams. Only a couple of days to trade players.
