AFL Insider - by Craig Hill

AFL Fantasy Bargains

May 14th 2007 12:14
Here are some players who are cheap to sign for fantasy teams. Some of them can start right now, others could be added to free up some money and may become good players later in the season.

J Gwilt - Is really playing well, a cheap buy and worth starting.
J Frawley - Melbourne are 0 and 7, he was their first round pick, he should have plenty of games this season.
J Riewoldt - He might have kicked nearly as many goals in the VFL as Richmond have the past couple of weeks.
J Smith - Another big game for the Kangaroos and fantasy coaches will want to sign him quickly before his price explodes.
A Edwards - Still cheap, and it seems Hale won't be taking his spot.
R Young - The cheapest player to buy, and he isn't the worst player Carlton have in their team.
J Brennan - Started well, then cooled off and his price dipped too, he will be there every game for Brisbane.
S Gilbert - Can fill a couple of spots for the Saints, and the injuries there will keep him playing.
C Hughes - He should be in the Richmond side for the rest of the year.
N Ablett - Price is going up but still is one of the cheaper forwards to consider.
A Bentick - The price is right, but he hasn't exploded for stats despite Stevens being out.
T Richards - He kicked plenty of goals in preseason, maybe the Swans move him forward now to help Hall.
L Jericho - Only played one game but he was good for stats.
R Hadley - He is healthy and inexpensive.
J Schulz - Another forward option for Richmond, and fantasy teams.
Clinton Jones - Not Corey or Chad, this is the Saints' C Jones. An inexpensive fantasy option.
T Varcoe - has kept his spot in the Geelong team.
C Bryan - A cheaper ruckman who can kick a couple of goals for extra fantasy points.
J King - Is getting a lot of the ball, his price will increase a bit more.
D Armitage - Must be close to his debut for the Saints.
C Collard - Could be an answer to the Dockers' lack of pace.
A Campbell - He kicked goals last game, might become their third forward option.
S Gumbleton - They must play the 2nd overall pick soon.
B Reid - One of the young players that they are waiting to debut.
M Thorp - The Hawks could play him in the coming weeks.

what about Ricky Petterd? Once he is back from injury, obviously

Injured players were not listed here, but when Petterd is back, which may be a couple of weeks, you would expect that Melbourne play him. Those who have not used many fantasy trades might want to add Petterd to their midfield fantasy bench when the Demons do name him in their side again.

The Kangaroos' Smith advertised himself to all AFL fantasy coaches on Friday, but he will be added here too.
