AFL By The Numbers: 3 Chris Judd
3
Chris Judd.
Midfielder for the West Coast Eagles.
Hawthorn and St Kilda like to point at that there was some concern about Judd's shoulders, that's why they went with their Lukes in the AFL draft. The Saints were intending to pick him at number 5, he didn't make it as the Eagles took him with pick 3 in the 2001 draft.
The Eagles really should give a reward to those players from 2001, without a very poor season they would have missed out on Judd, and on future success. The 2001 draft also brought in Seaby and Hansen who joined Judd in the Eagles 2006 AFL Premiership side.
Everyone sure seems to like Judd, the umpires give him plenty of votes and free kicks, and the Brownlow in 2004. More important than the umpires are the many Victorian teams who are ready to bring Judd back to his home and the wallets are open and the salary caps will be cleared to fit him in.
Judd might not have peaked yet for his football skills, every season he has increased his handballs and total disposals. His kicks per game have also increased every season. Last season he also stepped up his tackling numbers to have a career-high, he tied his career-high in goals too.
Judd will have a big September, but if he is uncontracted then October could be just as big.
