AFL By The Numbers: 14 Luke Ball

14
Luke Ball.
Midfielder for the St Kilda Saints.

Like Archer and Ricciuto, Ball isn't really playing unless there is plenty of contact. He has been getting the worse of the collisions in some of the recent games. But there isn't anything wrong with wearing a helmet at the Saints, Nathan Burke proved
that. Ball has put his helmet back in his locker but there will probably be a time when he needs it again.

Ball was the second Luke to go in the 2001 draft, after Hodge. He played his first AFL game in 2003. From 2004 he has been a top midfielder in the league.

Ball has some impressive game-highs, including a remarkable 15 tackles in a game. He also had 26 kicks in one game and reached 10 marks in another.

If Ball has a completely healthy season then a Brownlow is possible. While his votes totals have yet to reach double figures, the umpires do appreciate how he plays. Over his career he receives around twice as many free kicks as he gives away.

Luke Ball information:

183cm, 84kg
