AFL By The Numbers: 11 Joel Bowden
11
Joel Bowden.
Defender for the Richmond Tigers.
Joel Bowden has played in nearly every position during his time at Richmond. After joining the club as a father/son recruit, Bowden was put into the forward line and was a dangerous player.
For the first half of his career, Bowden was often played around half forward. He kicked a few goals, went into the middle to get it too and was also one of the better players to pass the ball to Richardson. 2001 was his best season for goals, with 26 which included a career-high game of 5. That year, Bowden had totals of nearly 150 marks and 600 disposals.
In recent years Bowden has gone to the back line. He is still accumulating the possessions at an incredible rate, and he once had 42 possessions in a single game. This year, despite being a bit short for the spot, Joel Bowden has been sent to full back on a few occasions as Richmond experiment with their setup.
