AFL By The Numbers: 1 Barry Hall
1
Barry Hall.
Full forward for the Sydney Swans.
He came into the league with a reputation, but as a boxer. It took a while for him to make his mark as a big forward for the Saints, but eventually he replaced many of the things that Lockett previously brought to the team.
Irony can sometimes be very ironic, and Hall followed the path that Lockett had made and went from the Saints to the Swans. The Saints got plenty for Hall, acquiring three good draft choices. Hall went one better with Sydney than Lockett did as he played in a winning AFL Grand Final side with the Swans.
Currently Hall is one of the best forwards in the AFL. It isn't just marks and goals though, he enjoys setting up his teammates too. Often after a long lead and mark, Hall will handball to a teammate speeding by and also free him for a shot at goal by shepherding his opponent. While a goal is something Hall celebrates, it seems he also gets some enjoyment from a good shepherd that often results in someone on the other team getting a closer look at the grass.
Barry Hall information:
195cm, 102kg

There are around 46 more numbers to go, so every couple of days another player will be selected as the best for their number. The criteria is who is the better player right now, so past accomplishments and potential for stardom in the future won't be too important. Feel free to leave a comment with other players who could have represented their number.
